I personally loved it when they played Vanessa Carlton. It got me pumped for the UVA 3rd down.

Ain't nothing like the real thing. If you'd rather watch porn than actually, well you know, then you probably just as soon watch football on TV. Same thing in essence. As for me and my wife, we will make the trip every time they open the gates at BDS unless there is sickness, death, or something worse like a damn immediate family wedding.

Yep, same here. I plan to hit 4 or 5 different F1 venues over the next few years. Going to Austin this year and I'm thinking Silverstone next year. After that, we'll see...but Austria is a definite possibility in the near future as well.

But I also plan to be at all of the games this year. Now that I'm done coaching baseball in the fall, I look forward to game days more.

Yeah. At least at home you can switch to another game. Or better they have multiple TVs/games.

I get to as many games as I can because I love gameday. But for a fan with a family that doesn’t live right there it’s probably tougher to justify the effort in their head.

Right? I mean he started on the "phones" schtick, but right away he pointed out the tailgaters are the fanbase. And they are dying off and the kids arent being raised tailgating.

Meanwhile they schedule all the games all over the country except a handful of top ones for noon. How can my kids grow up tailgating? We will be racing down from morning soccer games to a bunch of bullshit noon kickoffs.

Yeah, I get the thinking that they need to have a primetime game at night. Guess what: everybody (every conference) does that.

What we should do is put our biggest game at 3:30. Then put the second biggest game at noon. Then put the rest at 7:00. Then the max number can tailgate and raise kids tailgating. And people can have game watch parties. Who wants to have a game watch party at noon?

I already told my neice, who recently got engaged, that I won't attend her wedding if it is a Saturday in the fall.

F1 and football are apples to oranges. In f1, (or indycar in my experience), while at the race, it is much harder to follow along and you end up watching action on The jumbo trons. I
Do yourself a favor and go to the Indy 500 and Long Beach GP. While F1 is rad, the racing itself is absolutely horrid for the most part. Indycar has far better action.

No thanks. I'm a huge Formula 1 fan. I watch every race live. Not a big fan of Indy so much even though I don't hate it.
And FWIW, I think the racing is much more exciting when they have to do more than turn left every now & then. :)

I saw that one at home, and got laid immediately afterwards.

So that's one point in favor of the TV.

The brains that be will try to maximize revenue. If that means it cost more to go to a game than watch it on TV then so be it. The reality is that if they simply raise the cost to watch the game on TV, more fans will simply drop out. For example, I used to listen to the radio feed even when at the game; but when they figured out how to charge for it I quit listening. I'm sure if they up the cost of watching on TV, more fans will drop off over time. Teams like us with a small fan base need to make the games as accessible as possible, put every game on TBS if the conference would let them. The Braves didn't become America's Team because Turner put them on pay-per-view.

Noon games simply suck, it is typically hot and you leave sunburned. If your kids have practice or an event on Saturday morning, Nooners are either difficult to attend, or impossible if you are from out of town. Whether it be noon games or higher costs to watch or listen to the game; make your event less accessible and you will teach prospective customers to ignore you.

Indycar does have street courses and natural road courses too. I wasnt trying to compare f1 to ovals because they are so different. Give it a shot.

Yes. Commercials suck worse when you’re at the game and waiting for the restart. And when instead of the band playing you get commercials on the Jumbotron

Formula 1 was pretty cool as cars zip past you at 180 mph at a distance of five away in spots.
