I saw a man steal $11 million once. The big city ain't for everyone, I guess. I've just personally never experienced (or even seen) crime on a gameday. You go to even more games than I do, have you ever seen any?
(Just trying to get some anecdotal evidence out there for anyone reading who may have this particular concern.)
Not a crime. Court ruled it justified. So you didn't see you attack me?
I still tailgate in the physics lot. It’s slam full every game.Somehow we were able to to put 45,000 in the stadium in the 90’s and on game day, three hours before kickoff, you could pay to park in the Physics lot and enjoy tailgating, shop at the Bookstore, use the restroom at the Student Center, hear the band warmup, enjoy Budweiser played at the library and then walk down the hill with the band. Others were using the Student Center parking areas. We lost the EE lot and a little Textiles parking as we added to green space, but parking lots North of 5th Street in lots across from the reactor and near Area 3 dorms on West Campus were decent for tailgating.
Now more of us are having to use parking decks. Tailgating is not as close to the center of campus and requires rolling your gear to and from the car. On Fifth Street bridge you are a long way from the band and other pregame activities. Compared to other Southern schools I would have graded the gameday tailgating experience at Tech as a solid B+. Now, that grade would drop to a C- for me.
You think you are going to get attacked by kids who are actually trying to provide a service and work for their money?
I know. I called my lawyer expecting him to say you were in PITA prison. Justice was not served that day.Not a crime. Court ruled it justified.
Please stop repeating this bullshit.I saw a man steal $11 million once.

I honestly figured the practice was tolerated in the city. (Sounds like it was under Lance-Bottoms.) There's a pretty high number of ad hoc water (and beer and liquor) sellers around MBS and Piedmont Park during events, without even trying to be discrete. If the City of Atlanta can crack down on that it can only help Tech. I'd say it's mostly out of the Hill's hands, though.Legal tactics against Atlanta’s ‘water boys’ could include banishment, targeting parents - SaportaReport

The water bottle kids at intersections are a completely different thing from the guys selling outside stadiums. They are aggressive and weave in and out of traffic. I see it as glorified panhandling and it's a nuisance.I honestly figured the practice was tolerated in the city. (Sounds like it was under Lance-Bottoms.) I used to appreciate the street vendors selling the tall canned beers outside the tabernacle while you were standing in line for a show. Lower prices than the venue and I could keep my buzz goingI honestly figured the practice was tolerated in the city. (Sounds like it was under Lance-Bottoms.) I hate that most posters put Chan as a failure. Really what we were expecting under Chan is for the program to go next level and it just didn't happen. Excellent defenses hampered by overly conservative offenses. I still don't see how Pat Nix got into the program. Some observations/open questions:
1) Obviously, winning matters a lot and CGC depressed attendance quite a bit. No surprise to anyone.
2) A lot of companies/industiries never fully recovered from COVID, whether it was due to people moving, finding other hobbies, or just sheer lack of momentum (if you've been doing something a long time you're likely to keep doing it -- but if you're forced to stop for a while, there's no guarantee you'll resume.) Did COVID do any permanent damage to our fanbase?
3) Most concerning is that even prior to COVID, our attendance was on a downward trajectory. CPJ's most attended season was his first. A year after winning the ACC he only drew 47k, less than or equal to all of Gailey's years. Going into 2015, after we had our most successful season in decades and finished #7 in the nation, our attendance was still lower than three of Gailey's years, and that's with the benefit of home games against U[sic]GA and FSU.
There's no doubt that we are below where we should be in attendance due to CGC, and winning will bump us up quite a bit. But I'm worried that even with winning more, even consistently winning 8-10 which is a realistic goal for us, we're going to struggle to ever crack 50k again uness we change something off the field too.

We had such opportunity. I thought Threet was gonna be a difference maker and then he scrammed to Michigan once Mallett left Big Blue, being Threet's parents were Michigan grads and season ticket holders.
We had Sean Renfree committed to us and it looked like we finally had the QB Chan needed and then the firing happened.
We had hella good players and had some awesome wins. Outside of 51-7, which was early on, we were really pretty competitive with UGAg and just needed a play or two. 15-12, 14-7, 19-13 losses were rough. Great defense. Just needed some offense. We could have won any of those with a ööööing break. While all that is true, the fact remains that he was mostly putting in seven win seasons -- and still drawing more than CPJ was while winning the ACC, finishing #7 in the nation, and actually beating U[sic]GA once in a while.
