FSU 20.5 point favorite.

I do wish they'd give some transparency into what his injury is. I guess they're trying to play it close to the vest for strategic reasons, and the opinions of message board fans are probably way down on their list of priorities, but it sucks to see everyone speculating about this.

Sims has a sprained foot.

He didn't take himself out. The coaches literally took his helmet away from him because he wanted to go back in. He had multiple talks with half a dozen staff members before halftime - no clue who they were so I'm assuming it was medical staff. It happened right in front of me.

Folks calling Sims soft is ridiculous. The kids has spent his entire college career running for his life only to have some keyboard warriors question his toughness...
If I could like this post 100x, I would.

Espn gives FSU a 91% chance to win. Higher percentage to beat us than FSU has against Louisiana (87%) in a few weeks. I guess FSU has played pretty good ball despite losing 3 in a row but I actually believe we will hang with them because of defense, I'm not convinced we will go down big but we will see. Obviously Sims being able to play would help. Is FSU really that good? They did beat a good LSU team.

He also has some privacy rights’as to specific medical conditions.

Dumbass forgot all the other years again? We had maybe two subpar years of O during the triple. And defense was still the primary weakness those years also. This pro offense didnt do crap against the 2nd worst team in the ACC. Key is a big part of that problem.

I remember when Duke owned us.

It’s a nice town. It’s not like a normal college town where you’ve got the main street bars or like a university in the middle of a big city where the college feel is drowned out by the city. It’s more like a small town that was built up around the state’s government. Lots of locals just doing ordinary life.
I went in '09 for the first time and had an absolute blast. Great college town.

So glad we are where we are now. That Orange Bowl with losses to duke and unc was such an unbearable season. Lolol
Yea, JT5 was a special athlete and we were lucky he decided to head to GT instead of Alabama. Keep holding on to your Orange Bowl victory forever. Soon enough, that will be a decade ago.

I remember when Duke owned us.

The equation has two variables. Ross and Johnson faced respectable Duke coaches. Lewis, O’Leary, and Gailey did not.

GT coaches who beat a Duke team with an overall winning record:
Johnson

GT coaches who lost to a Duke team with a losing record: Ross, Lewis, Gailey

In fairness, we were really bad when Ross took over. He had a chance in 89 to beat a good Duke team, but got beat.

O’Leary and Gailey never faced a Duke team with an overall winning record.

And the previous Orange Bowl victory prior to that was in the 1950s, so a mere decade ago doesn't seem so bad.

Yeah, I left off Key and Collins. Key will most likely have beaten a Duke team with an overall winning record, they could still completely tank but it is unlikely. Collins never faced a Duke team that finished with a winning record.

Duke sucked under Cutcliffe. They generally played a soft schedule, despite playing the Bama game. Johnson had no excuse for ever losing to Duke. No GT coach ever has an excuse for losing to Duke

???

Channy never sniffed success. Very definition of milquetoast. I was done after sitting in the rain and watching him unable to coach a team to a TD against a pretty average Wake Forest team--with Choice and the best WR of the generation. The weird hate on this board for the success that was had under CPJ is really bizarre.

Let's hope that Batt can make a great hire to turnaround the program.

As far as getting back on topic, I think that GT can hang w/FSU. Hope to see Pyron instead of Gibson.

Chan had 5 seasons, and yess, we squeaked by UGAg in 2008 after getting close several years under Chan. We won 2008 UGAg because of Chan's recruiting of talent, which was JUST maturing on his 5th season. Johnson then LOST the only UGAg game we had been favored in, in decades, in 2009. Wet the ööööing bed.

I wasn't for the firing of Chan. I felt we had turned a corner and finally had our QB recruited. Y'all can love Johnson all you want. I never said I disliked Johnson. I was tired of watching us get body slammed, physically pushed around, and seeing UGAg DT's arriving at the same time as the mesh to the ball. We were weak. We were pathetic. There was NO JT5 that was going to show up and save us.

No way was Channy turning around the '08 game after that halftime deficit. Correct, the '09 debacle hurt.

I was in favor on Channy getting canned as I was tired of seeing the team quit on him a few times a season. No wins over Ugag, no major bowl wins, etc. He is the quinntesential 7-5, 6-6 type.

I am for GT, not just Coach Johnson; I just don't get many on this board who minimize the success the program enjoyed under him.

I am hopeful that Batt can find a coach that can help GT overcome the talent differential that it faces with the better programs on the schedule.
