I follow just about all Tech games this year from the online box score while I'm at kids games.

That’s a valid reason to not go to games.

I’m well aware sitting all game is most preferred by the fan base. But standing during the games from time to time is good for your joints. Just don’t try and stand for 3rd downs or big plays. That really makes a lot of fans mad.

I stand up most of the time. Nobody ever complains.

We are 109th in 3rd down defense in the nation, last in the ACC

Since we entered the weekend 109th in the nation - out of 130 - in third down defense, ditching the money down signs is probably a wise idea.

Looked up some more stats - against FBS competition only, in the last three years we are this on 3rd down conversion percentage defense:

The other teams are cashing in with regularity on money down.
Past time for that gimmick to get shelved.

So in the past we seemed to alternate being good-average and terrible on third downs, though don't know if that means the defenses were good. Interestingly, the years we were more successful were the lower ranked ones. Not sure if our defense is actually worse at it or just more tired.

Overall, the whole money down thing was probably a vain attempt to encourage better performance, cause our track record is pretty bad.

Wow it’s almost like you were surprised at what you found from the previous staff that was a bunch of professionals who had been doing the whole “coaching football” thing for a career with proven track records of success. Weird.

Well you did some deep dive into the previous years 3rd down stats for some reason and seemed surprised at the actual numbers you found.

We are consistently bad under this group Collins drags around with him. And we actually had good and bad performance under the previous staff of professional coaches.

I was there and after a bit he stopped saying money down and just said 3rd down.

The PA guy must be embarrassed for having to say Money Down. If not, I feel embarrassed for him. It’s juvenile and it feels like the goal of winning is just secondary to being hip and cool instead. I’m sure the opposing fans are laughing at us too.
