Gators fire McElwain

Getting jiggi with a shark or perhaps something else?? Spill please.

A major number of players suspended for involvement in credit card fraud scheme

Mention of fake death threats

Those are just the ones I know of. I don’t follow Florida closely.

I'm in Gainesville, FL. The people know a good offense when they see one (i.e. Spurrier, Meyer). The fans were puking watching McElwain's offense. He actually got support for not letting any of the 9 indicted players slide. Thought they'd give him at least through the end of the year.

So, Penn State will be looking for a new coach.

Why would Franklin leave Penn State for Florida? He's from PA, is making more than what McElwain was making (and I'm sure PSU would sweeten his deal if necessary), and would have to beat Saban in order to really gain the respect of the fan base.

It really is amazing how bad their offense has been the last several years

Ceiling is higher at UF and at ATM. PSU knows this and have been trying to get cash together to keep him. Now having two big schools on the market, it will be that much harder.

Maybe one of those schools raid Clemson's staff.

We can only hope that the next round of cfb arms race will be a transfer of coaching talent from the acc to sec east. I have no shame in wanting an easier path.

We’ll assume Bob Stoops has shown no desire to coach again, as he’s consistently indicated that since he stepped down at Oklahoma. The most qualified candidate is Chip Kelly, who hasn’t appeared particularly interested in working in the SEC. But there’s a chance that the potential of coaching at a blue-blood program like Florida has changed that. Hiring Kelly, who went 46-7 at Oregon, would come with an extra administrative step because of his NCAA issues in Eugene that included a show-cause penalty that’s since expired.

If Kelly isn’t a fit, it’s safe to categorize the Florida job as a two-horse race. The two most obvious candidates are UCF’s Scott Frost and Mississippi State’s Dan Mullen, both of whom can address the ineptitude on the offensive side of the ball Florida fans have endured the past seven seasons.

I guess the obvious names. How about Charlie Strong tho? :P

Because Penn State will always be playing behind THE Ohio State and Michigan. UF has to deal with UGA and... yep, that's it.

Spurrier should have been winning championships for Tech. Can't believe we let him get away.

Umm... I don't think anybody was going to keep Spurrier from going home to Florida.
EDIT: It's a dang shame he dallied with the Redskins or think how much additional butthurt he could've delivered to the Dawgs over the years.

The ceiling at all of those places is a national championship.

Hard to know. Penn State can't even marshal enough support to make the playoffs when they win their conference.

They had two losses. Has any team made the playoff with more than one loss yet? Florida could have won the SECCG last year and they still would not have made the playoff. That much is obvious.
