And his defenses may have been ööööty but they were better than what we have had the last three seasons with a "Defensive Genius" at the helm.

PJ left us with the foundation of the 102nd ranked defense. That's about what we've averaged over the past three years and a lot of the faces in the backfield have been the same for all four. We'll see what some new faces can do now.

You assume that Collins WILLINGLY asked for help. I frankly doubt he did that at all. He was more-or-less forced to do it by TStan, who, for once, actually listened to the fans. And for all we know, both Curry and GOL OFFERED the help and didn't simply respond to a request. I see no evidence of humility by Collins at all, and he proved that when Ken Seguira asked him at that press conference last Fall if he had anything to say to the fans, and he simply smirked and left the room. Reminds me of a certain clueless politician in DC.

I viewed the press conference when he smirked at Ken and walked away. No conjecture there at all. I also later talked to Ken (a personal friend), and he said I was not the only one to mention it. Yes, it is conjecture that GOL and Curry might have offered their services, but it's also conjecture that Collins actually asked them

And yet they were ranked #79 in team defense that year (2018). Ted Roof looks like Buddy Ryan/Belicheck compared to what Collins' Ds have done in the last 3 seasons. And #102 in team D would be a big step up for Collins and Thacker.

Well, I guess I'll be the 'I'm not revealing my sources' guy, but GOL has been consulted from the very beginning on this mess. Remember Collins referencing the text message after the FSU game. GOL is why we got CBK and Collins/CBK talk to GOL quite frequently for mentoring and advice and have been since the start. This is a pre-existing mentor/mentee relationship especially with CBK. Friedgen has been consulted at a few points as well. I haven't specifically asked about the level of engagement increasing this off-season, but wouldn't be surprised. That doesn't mean that Collins is asking the right questions, but I'm also not sure getting advice on how to run practices from GOL is something you would want to publicize either.

Good to learn real information that, at least somewhat, clears up conjecture. I wasn't aware that Fridge had been consulted. Apparently, they didn't learn anything from him which they used. Spot on about GOL.
