I was very clear that i did not have a hypothesis as to why Gibbs did not play much in the dwag game. I was not at the game nor did i see any footage of it.

But you haven’t addressed any of my questions but instead “double-down” on your assumptions.

I’m not saying you are wrong because I don’t know. But I am asking for some evidence to confirm these assertions. And what i am greeted with is “… how dare you not believe?”

So since I guess we are past the cordial part of this discussion, then I’ll just get to the point.

Either provide convincing evidence that Gibbs threw in the towel or StFU. And I’ll go ahead and set down a ground rule that “what you are absolutely convinced of without the slightest hint of evidence” does not constitute evidence.
 
I dont see where I got less than cordial. I do see where I asked you to defend your opinion just like you’re asking all of us. Sorry being directly asked to do the same thing you’re asking us to do offends you. There’s more evidence to suggest Gibbs stopped playing due to a minor injury than there is to suggest he was chomping at the bit to get in the game and the team doctors shut him down.

Here’s the evidence: he stopped playing and was never shown in any amount of pain on the field. He is not shown pleading his case with the trainers at any point. He transferred.

And yet you tell people to stfu. I WAS there. I saw with my own eyes at the opening kick off the way he didn't field the ball and nonchalantly reacted to even covering the loose ball. I looked over at my friend next to me and said those exact words of him. Then taking a handoff and simply go through the motions towards the line. Now I didn't speak to him after the game, but I assure you that's more evidence than you can produce he wasn't.

This. Seems pretty silly to single out Gibbs for not going back in after getting banged up when the whole team mailed it in from the beginning.

I absolutely despise what college football is becoming with the lack of loyalty. To me, this is a classic “don’t hate the player, hate the game” situation. It’s a much better move for him, and it’s not like he was helping us win anyway.

If he got banged up on that kickoff, it was his own damn fault. He nonchalantly approached the kick and then got beat up after that öööö up. He essentially quit on us. öööö him.

Ehh. A lot of people seem to have a foggy memory of this. There were several factors involved. Most of the field was in the sun except for the end Gibbs was at from about the 10 yard line back was in the shadows. When the ball was kicked it appeared to him that it was going to be in the endzone and he held both arms straight out which is the signal to the blockers that there will be no return. The ball came down much shorter than he thought and landed inside the 5. Normally that would still roll through the endzone for a touchback but the ball checked up and stayed live so he had to rush to get it and there was nowhere to go by that point.

False. He actually played three series, or the entire first quarter. Stopped going in when it was 17-0.
 
He’s lighting it up at Bama. Going to be #1 on the depth chart. It’s really sad that the current coaching staff could not retain him. No way he transfers if a solid coaching staff like O’Leary and Friedgen were here.

He probably realized that that entire game was a sham and there was no reason to risk injury. Collins did not even try to compete in that game. Sad.
 
There is no way to know if a player is opting out of the fight or is truly injured. Certainly from the stands or watching on TV we lack that information. However, we do see players and can see certain plays where it is obvious they were injured, we see them limp or drag a shoulder or hold an arm as if broken. We see the attention given on the sideline or if they are taken to the locker room. We see them trying to test out an injury in the hopes of returning. While unable to comment on specifics of their medical condition, in the post game we hear coaches comment on injured players that could no longer perform.

So, we are most likely to expect an athlete is opting out with a slight injury when we do not notice a play when they are injured, they receive little medical attention, they seem to make no effort to return, and there is no comment coming from them or their coaches regarding their injury or return. Tech fans have seen this type of situation with Gibbs and some might say with Sims. We may be wrong. But, this is where doubts about desire to be in the midst of the fray arise.

This. It as obvious that Collins had totally quit. When you call plays with no intent to get first downs or put pressure on the opponent then you can’t blame the players for bailing. We will look back on this era and wonder how it happened. No matter what words are used every coach in the ACC and every high school coach in this state now realizes Collins is a soft coach who has no plan. His plan for this upcoming season is basically hope that Sims suddenly turns into Mahomes. But let’s play it out since our AD can’t act until November.

So yeah everybody has to deal with shade from time to time but that still doesn't make it any easier. Everybody loves to play the hindsight game, "oh he quit on the team on the opening kickoff, wah, wah, wah..." Bullshit. The kid couldn't see the ball well and made a mistake fielding it.
