Gibbs was incredible today

Yeah. Because NFL scouts are so poor at their jobs, they couldn't possibly spot that kind of talent unless it was competing in the sEc. Really just blind luck they found players like Lawrence Taylor, Megatron, Jerry Rice, Grady Jarret, Barry Sanders, Trevor Lawrence, Joe Montana, Howie Long, Jason Taylor.....etc etc etc. Real shame those guys never made any money.

You don’t think the exposure that Gibbs is getting at a top shelf program playing behind a top shelf OL is going to translate to $$$?

Good lord.

Scouts aren't perfect, and even if you have incredible talent you can slip down the draft board. For every player you mentioned you can find another player who scouts whiffed on but ended up becoming an NFL star -- and no doubt players who could have been an NFL star but just didn't get the opportunity (of course there's no way for us to know those players.)

Scouting is an inexact science and having a high profile college career is a boon to your draft position, and that can certainly be worth millions of dollars. Of course there are no guarantees in life though.

His stats would have been much better in the ACC.

I just want to confirm, because this seems hard to believe to me. You think if Gibbs was still at Tech, he would be doing *much better* than a touchdown and 129 yards from scrimmage per game? Do you really think he would been putting up 150, 200 yards per game for us this season?

We don't hate Gibbs. He has nothing to do with Tech football anymore. He quit. Stop starting threads weekly about his performance with mistress Bama. Get over him.
Lol we're "over him", we're happy to see him on a big stage. You clearly aren't "over" him leaving.

You say he quit, I say his charity work at a lousy program ran its course. #perspective

Lol what? You just named players from the following programs:

ND - Montana
Clemson - Lawrence, Jarrett
Oklahoma State - Sanders who followed Thurman Thomas. Sanders teams went 10-2 both seasons he started.
North Carolina - Lawrence Taylor - The only one on your list that played for a losing college program.

Naming Jerry Rice, Howie Long, Jason Taylor etc mean what exactly? There are obviously players from smaller schools that make the NFL.

Gibbs leaving GT was a business decision. It’s no different than anyone on this board changing jobs. College football is a resume builder. It’s not the 90’s and early 2000’s anymore. Some of you seem to be stuck in the mindset that kids pick a school for the education first, sports 2nd. Most of the time it’s the reverse.

closer to all the time

When you see guys in any numbers who are happy athletically change schools to better themselves academically then we can discuss how many aren't athletics first.

Gibbs ain't öööö.

Lol count up the number of bama first rounders in the past 3 years, then count up the number of first rounders in GT HISTORY. I'll wait.

Gibbs will have a higher draft position coming from the SEC/bama, which equates to millions of dollars. there are first rounders from the SEC that had no business being first rounders simply because they played in the SEC. Sure the NFL will still see him, but now they'll pay a premium rather than getting a late round "steal".

Great examples, but its chess not checkers. Imagine the greatest receiver of all time (Jerry) being a steal at the #16 pick because he played at Booneyville U. but if he played at UMiami or Notre Dame, he'd be top 5 and had a MUCH bigger contract (ask tim brown). Checkmate.
Really? Alabama has had more first rounders than GT? Wow...learn something new every day. Calm down Francis. The subject was Gibbs, a pretty much consensus NFL talent and probable 1st round caliber pick day one. Whether or not transferring to bammer and playing in the sEc rather than the ACC, for a player of his caliber and position, equates to a higher or lower draft position is a completely subjective proposition at best. Whether he's #5 or #12 will be much more dependent on the specific teams who own those positions and their roster positional needs than if he finished out at GT or OSU or TX or Sanford or West Virginia or yes, even bammer. Checkers and chess...lol.

(That if you have NFL measurables the NFL will find you? Sorry if that wasn't clear, probably could have communicated that point better)

(I don't know what Jahmyr's true motivations were for transferring. He's never addressed it to that specificity, at least publicly. I think he's a good kid, I wish him the best.)

Personally, Gibbs is my favorite player in college football. I'll watch every bama game this season, and hope he rips UGA for 200 yards. He came to Tech with MUCH bigger options available, he could have flipped, but he didn't out of loyalty. He stayed for a couple of years with a clown coach, and bolted when there was no light at the end of the tunnel.

Tech fans who hate Gibbs for leaving just don't care about the kid or his future.

Can't wait to see him in the league.

I don't think most posters here fault Gibbs for leaving and going to Bama; but trying to sell 'loyalty' as one of his virtues is a bit silly and futile here. He quit on GT last season the last couple of games, it was obvious, and ran out on his teammates to pursue his own self-interest. There are still people here that are chaffed at Bill Curry for leaving for Bama; so don't expect us to follow Gibbs the rest of his career like we are his 'loyal' baby momma.

Gibbs is a very good player who will play on Sunday (unless disaster strikes). But he is not the greatest player the SEC has seen in 17 years, or the greatest player on the field this past Saturday. He is not even the best player Bama has seen in 17 years or the best player on Bama's offense. That is not a slight to him, or a sign everyone here hates him; it is just being realistic.

"Charity work at a lousy program"?

Who tf are you? Your only posts on this board are in this thread to ride Gibbs' jock and öööö on Tech. Don't blame Gibbs for transferring after suffering through Collins, but give me a break on slobbering all over Bama/SEC garbage.

Gibbs only came to Tech out of "loyalty" lol

He quit on Collins, not GT. Some of you can’t grasp that for some reason, or just refuse to grasp it so you can öööö on the kid.

He quit on his teammates and he quit on the fans. I was at the ND game where he mailed it in. It was pathetic and I told someone right then that I bet he had had a decision to transfer and said öööö it. There was no doubt that was the case after the uga game.

 He didn't quit Geoff Collins, he quit his team, he left GT. Some of you can't grasp that for some reason, or just refuse to grasp it so you can continue your hero worship.
