GT Used to Matter in the CFB World: What Happened?

I’d say beating UGA three times, winning the ACC TITLE and otherwise being in the hunt for the title most years, and going to the orange bowl twice is nothing to sneeze at. Granted, that’s not “football factory” status, but I’d wager there are plenty of programs around that time which would have liked to have been at least similarly competitive. I’d imagine CPJ could have been more successful had MBob been more accommodating to his requests for resources. Now we’re at the point where many of us are pessimistic about being able to find someone who could come in here and salvage the program’s legacy from this dumpster fire.

I guess we do because no one wanted to HC for us when PJ quit in 2018, even after beating UGA 3x, etc etc. They all knew that PJ left almost no P5 talent behind. It's why we ended up with Krusty Kollins in the first place - NO ONE wanted to come here after PJ.

I agree we've made zero progress and definitely gotten worse on the sidelines since then but the next guy in 2023 will have a lot more to work with than Bozo did when he got here in early 2019.

I don't think either of us fired anyone, you clown. I don't think either of us are optimistic about Bozo either. PJ quit on is. Hopefully Bozo will too.

Year 3 we should have been back to the level CGC inherited. That was roughly even in conference and floating around bowl eligibility. That is why this year sucked so bad. Three wins was way below where we should have been.

But, this was a feature of the CEO HC. We aren’t paying a huge buyout to replace the coordinators. Hopefully we show improvement next year and get to having a chance at a bowl.

Didn't read all this thread. Last time GT was really, truly relevant in college football was when we were in the SEC
 
Guy on Finbaum just said GT was begging to get back in SEC and were sponsored by ga for 6 straight years and the rest of the teams voted no. First I’ve heard it go down like that. But yeah epic mistake and the stadium is named after the man who done, who I have utmost respect for regardless

People who think this season had anything to do with transitioning from the TO are simply in denial. This year was proof positive to any thinking person that years 1 & 2 had more issues than just simply roster flipping and transitioning. CPJ did not "leave the cupboard bare", he left it set up for another option oriented (not necessarily flexbone) team, the football geniuses made sure there were no option elements in our offense. What they did to our defense and special teams defies any explanation I can come up with (how do you ruin multiple place kickers so quickly?).

Some of us knew after the first quarter of the citadel game and still believe CPJ left the cupboard bare. It's not a dichotomy.

Preach it Brother! The offensive wizardry unleashed the last 10 quarters of 2021 are enough to make you want to forget the 3O for good. We were consistently humming on all cylinders.

Wrong. Alabama sponsored us. UGAg and the Mississippi schools vetoed us. Auburn, Bama, Florida, Tennessee were "yes" votes.

30 QB Keepers and Death Marching when down 3 TDs with 8 minutes to go = Offensive Genius!!! We were totally outscheming the öööö out of Clemson and uga!! They didn't know how to avoid all that Choppin' and Floppin'!!!
