This is the recap of CPJ matchup with VanGorder in 2018. What were you thinking?

Hard to believe we lost to the Citadel the following year because of the roster.
BVG was the DC the year we played Notre Dame … ~2015 and he shut down CPJ

We had Choice and Megatron at the same time and Gailey still couldn't beat Richt. Instead we only scored 12 points against Georgia and 6 against Wake Forest, and 7 against Clemson; and 2006 was Gailey at his very best.
08 and 09 GT teams had more talent that Calvins teams and Richts teams got much worse after Chan left. From 02-07 they were a top 7 team 5 times and ranked in the top 3 twice. Some of the teams Paul lost to were unranked, and 1 had a losing record. Not unthinkable that one of Chan’s teams (which lost to UGA by 3, 6, 7, 10 points) could have beaten a mediocre Georgia team

We have 3 guaranteed losses and 2 guaranteed wins. It feels like a 6-6 or 5-7 season which would be progress after our reboot. The solid 2022 recruiting class keeps the positive vibe going into next year.

Gone down this road before. 02-07 was probably the best stretch of UGA teams outside of the early 80s and their current 17 and beyond stretch.

I fully believe Gailey could have beaten a UGA team like 09, 10, 11, 13, 15, or 16. He never would have beaten the 08 team which means even if he didn’t get fired after 07 he’d have got fired after 08.

Georgia was in the top 10 in final 2014 rankings. Why did you leave it out?
2015 UGA ended top 25.
2012 ended top 5.
2011 top 20.
2008 top 15.

Gailey would have lost in 2008; might have pulled a win out in 2009. Doubtful Gailey wins any of the others because Richt had Tenuta figured out and that was the horse Gailey was riding. We had a hugely better OC in 2008 than 2007 and that made a huge difference in that game. In hindsight we probably had a better DC in 2008 vs 2007 too. We beat a UGA team in 2008 we otherwise wouldn't have, and then lost 2009 in a game we all think we should have won, not because of roster; but because of what the 2009 teams had done during the season leading up to that game.

Dave wommack was a better DC than Tenuta? You must have missed where we had a string of top 25 defenses under Tenuta. Wommack inherited a defense with 4 NFL DL and 3 NFL DBs, and the thing was coming apart by the end of the 2008 season. By 2009 our D was absolutely terrible despite having 2 of the 5 best defensive players we’ve had in 25 years
