I think 6 or 7 wins is possible this season

Clemson L
Western Caroline W
Ole Miss L
At UCF L
At Pitt L
Duke W
UVA W
At FSU L
At VT W
UM L
At UNC W both coaches get fired
At UGA L we get butt raped

best case 5-7 and that’s best case
We are not beating UVA with their QB. Also, have you seen UNC's QB!?

I think we’ll face several. Might not face a better defense than Clemson (maybe uga?) but will have a lot of better offenses. Half the schedule. Honestly it’s a tough offensive schedule so maybe 8 or 9 better offenses.

We looked like the better team for 40 minutes today. Until CGC was too much to overcome.
You really think CGC’s in-game coaching is what lost the game tonight? Not losing Charlie Thomas - our leading tackler to a BS targeting call? Not the BS calls and BS non-calls? Not the missed blocking assignments or false starts? Not the TWO blocked punts? You can say that all ultimately falls under Collins (and it does), but nothing he did or didn’t do cost us the game today. And to be clear, I do think he is piss-poor at game management. But even the poorly handled timeouts didn’t actually cost us the game tonight.

If you fire the head coach, yes, it's possible.

D looked improved through 3 quarters.
Sims shows some improvement.
O line generally sucked.
Special teams not so great, but some bright spots (place kicking).

Clock management, timeouts, stupid penalties, setting an aggressive tone, etc.? Horrendous. Our head coach is holding us back in a big way. I could see 6 wins if we fired Collins and promoted Long or Weinke.
Setting an aggressive tone???

Do what now?

You list like 5 things that cost us the game and admit Geoff is in charge of like 3 of those.

As bad as the final result looked, I did see improvement. We lack depth, and it showed towards the end. I think Tech is an 8 winish bowl team. I feel better than I did at the end of last season, but I felt really terrible at the end of last season. Who knows?

I think CGC cost us tangible points when the game was still in doubt, yes. And I think a halfway competent coach keeps this roster vs their roster within arms reach long enough to make it interesting in the 4th, yes. And I think a large percentage of fans who have watched football for more than a few years could manage a game better, yes.

And that is not exaggeration. The shit he pulls with timeouts and clock management is just bizarre. Consistently. Like at this point I would not be surprised if it came out that he was betting spreads against us in games. I’ve watched him run a 2 minute drill and end the half end with 2 timeouts in his pocket. And that still wasn’t as inexplicable as what we saw today.

They are all reasonably winnable except ugag. Miami and Ole Miss are unlikely, but would not be the upsets of the century or anything if we won. FSU and Pitt are tough because we're on the road. But let's say we lose all of those. That leaves us with an eminently doable 6-6. GT fans should not settle for anything less than that.

“But 2 blocked punts make that game look bad, best game ive seen us play in a long time, defense looked great.”

I guess you missed the 932 false starts. Does anyone believe our players aren’t as smart as other team’s players?

I mean jeez… false start has only been a rule since leather helmets and thd foreard pass was illegal. We have zero football IQ. Which is on coaches.

Collins is stealing his salary.,

I agree 100% that cgc's decisions cost tangible points tonight, I also think the refs cost tangible points tonight, I also think Dabo had a desire to cover the spread that cost us tangible points tonight.

But öööö, man, we can all see this shit, it not that we lost, everybody expected that shit. It's that we actually looked pretty good against the 2nd best team we'll play all year, and we didn't really look outclassed on the field at all, but its still just same ole dumbass coaching decisions and, at this point, there is no reason to expect them to be corrected.

We lost by 31 pts. We had 86 penalty yds, they had 10. We had a little over 200 yds of offense, they had almost 400. We were 2/16 on 3d down, they were 7/16. We had two punts blocked. IMHO, we were beat soundly. Fans thinking this game was reason for optimism just shows what an incredibly low state the program has sunk to.

What do you want here? All of us expected to lose. We weren't beat soundly they needed two blocked punts and Dabo being a dick to cover the spread. You clearly have not watched much football if you think this was a shit performance by tech.

While I'm upset by the shit decisions made by cgc, im pretty optimistic about the seas9n based on what I saw tonight, I'm not sure any team left on our schedule, not named uga, could beat us, the way we played tonight, without two blocked punts.

7 points came on a 5 yard field.
7 points came on a 15 yard field.
3 points came on a 40 yard field.
7 points came late with their backup QB against a lot of our subs too. Thats 24 of the 31 we lost by. It doesn't change anything or make it better but you can't discredit that either.

If our offense isn't playing well, nobody ever credits the defense we are playing.

If our defense plays good, oh it must mean the offense we are playing sucks.

If you wanna look at a play that swung the momentum that pitch to shitley when we had DJ's ass for a sack. that play really just demoralized the team.

Those blocks weren't some weird fluke. They weren't a botched snap or a wet ball or the turf monster – just better players and coaching. I don't see how we can ignore data points like that when evaluating how the team played. Both teams had 14 possessions; we scored on 2; they scored on 7. This was not close.

I’m a skepticist.

But I saw 4 things tonight that tell me this team is improved:

1. Defense. Our defensive players played a hell of a game until they were unnecessarily gassed because of lack of depth, and our offense couldn’t keep them off the field long enough to get their breath. I saw pressure from the front 4. I saw athleticism from the defensive backs. And I saw very good tackling and tenacity and players in position to make plays. D made more athletic plays tonight than I’ve seen in the past 5 years.

2. QB play. Sims has a gun. His passes were extremely accurate. And he stayed I the pocket. And made Clemson pay when he left it.

3. Receivers: They handled 60-70 mph passes from Sims and made catches.

4. Special teams. They made tackles and their coverage was very good.

Take away the easy false starts from the young OL, which should be easy to correct, and we’re a much, much improved team.

I liked it. We played a hell of a game against bigger, stronger athletes with much more depth.

I see 6-7 wins this season, and a bowl game this year.

We are in the game 3/4 of the time. Clemson ran it up at the end of the game just because of their depth.
