I'm officially pissed Oliver hasn't started all season

I think it's the other way around. I think TQM has such a strong grasp of the offense that he's blown by the rest of our guys. CPJ tries to do all sorts of tricky öööö with TQM in the game and when TO is in the game we're running like 15% of our playbook. But that 15% happens to be the stuff that everybody on the team actually knows how to do so we look crisp as öööö doing it. I think CPJ could make TQM look really good if he'd just run a simpler set of plays with him. It might not use TQM to his potential, but it'll win.

I don't buy that. If Marshall was running a few plays that continued to work time after time, PJ would continue to go to it. Louisville is a good example. VT couldn't stop the QB runs so he kept drawing them up. Sustainable long term no, simple and smart last night absolutely.

No doubt that Oliver was the right call last night. It was a good match up against a young VT team, but I'm not sure that means Oliver is a good fit against everyone left on the schedule. I would say we ran about five plays and the option only 2 or 3 times max. I can see a healthy TM being a better match up against some teams left to play.

Its a really interesting dilemma. Oliver runs like a man, like Nesbitt did. But if you keep running him 40 times a game he is going to get hurt eventually. And there are times when you will have to lob a pass over the 11 men in the box defenses. Oliver looks SCARY trying to pass. He needs a lot of help real quick in that area.

Unbelievable how Duke dominated us on the line, both sides of the ball yet we handle VTs front 7 the way we did last night. After the targeting call VT just unraveled. They dropped a half dozen passes after that point. Good for us.

Did we only run a few plays with Oliver because he doesn't know or can't run the others or is it because the few plays were working and VT had no answer? I'm going with the latter so PJ just rinsed and repeated play after play. Until TO shows me he can't do it after the offense gets shut down I might change my mind. TO > TM really that simple IMO

I don't think Duke's O-Line dominated Tech. Not at all. Maybe the first drive - that's about it.

Look at how the qbs act when they score. It is team related or me related? I don’t know. Maybe TM is the better quarterback but the team rallies around TO.

This is really not fair though as (a) I have no idea and (b) the team named TM a captain.

I'm sure CPJ will have no worries pulling him 'if we need a spark'.

I think we could be in the territory of giving Oliver a drive or two just to keep TM fresh and the defense a different look.

I disagree. TQM hasn't been running magical fairy dust plays and getting blown up. It's really simple.

When the OL blocks like they're supposed to, they both look good.

Taquon does not do well with contact. He's already played injured most of the season which makes him even more scared of letting anyone touch him. Since he lost a step due to his injury it makes him a pretty horrible runner right now.

Tobias tries to run through guys. He's that Joshua Nesbitt type quarterback we've been nostalgic about for all these years. Taquon is faster when healthy but Tobias is a tank, and it works. It works because yards after contact after crucial in our offense. But he's a horrendous passer which is why when the OL is blocking well and we keep scoring running the ball CPJ won't pass. And Tobias will work as long as we don't have to pass. And we won't have to pass as long as OL is giving him something to work with.

I say use both. Start with Tobias, then either give Taquon 4th quarter clean up duty or put him if we need to pass.

What's gonna happen though is CPJ will go back to Taquon as starter and put Tobias in when Taquon gets injured again.

You can't play scared in our offense. That's what killed Vad Lee eventhough he had a much better arm than JT5. Eventhough JT5 was small he never played scared. Taquon plays scared. That's a big problem.

"If you listen to the fans, soon you'll be sitting with them."

That's not always the case. Sometimes, unfortunately, the dumbasses in the stands know better than the moron on the sidelines.
