Impact on Recruiting

Be interesting to see if yesterday's debacle has a negative impact on recruiting. The poor coaching decisions and this ATL system probably will not bode well for our recruiting efforts. Maybe coach knows this and that is why he has more commitments than scholarships. Either way, anticipate a hit to our recruiting with yesterday's poor showing with more to come.

Kids are being sold on the future, not the present. Otherwise, how would any team rebuild via recruiting? A few recruits have tweeted their support for the staff since the loss. No one except us expected us to be any good and the roster is getting turned over asap.

We have more commitments than scholarship because a lot of guys on the current roster are going to leave.

You guys worry too much.

Hope we don't schedule any more service academies until we can get a legit DT and LB on the team. In hindsight, it's not too surprising they were able to set the dive on us. I don't think this game is a very good read on our defense, because as we know, this offense can öööö up solid defenses.

The key is how we respond in two weeks at Temple. We can offer immediate playing time at OL, DL, TE, WR and LB. We also need to stay on top of the transfer portal at these positions. Do we need to look for a punter to step in if Harvin goes to the NFL after next season.

I’ve seen good Citadel teams. This isn’t one of them.
They didn’t have a single guy who could break 4.7 in the 40 out there.
And they put up 300 yards rushing

FWIW, I don’t see any DTs in the current recruit class either

Their DL was small. We allowed them to operate because we have no play action in our playbook

I do not think 1 loss any recruits flip.... However if after the UNC game we are sitting at only 1 win and the losses are ugly we may see recruits flip... especially as the season goes on

Nobody wants to play on a team this bad. Stampede of decommits forthcoming.
Based on that theory, why does your wife stay with you when you keep disappointing her with your lack of performance time after time?

We should probably hire someone who runs it. It sure looked good.

If I'm another school, and I'm recruiting Tech's commits or recruits, I go...
"Do you really want to go to a program that's losing to Citadel in front of 20,000 people?"
Because they will do that.
You want and hope recruits look at four years and 40 years down the road. But a lot of this is done in the now. And that's the now.

So basically the same pitch that won us all of our current players over their FCS offers.

Recruits are buying into the future - what Collins is GOING to do. They don't care about this season.

and judging by what we've seen so far, he's going to keep losing. He may get good recruits and then he will waste their talents and abilities with this level of subpar coaching.

We get it. You’re one of Paul’s old lackeys from Statesboro. Why don’t you spend time cheering for Southern and split time with uga fandom like the rest of them?

This. If a team coached by Geoff Collins can only succeed because we have better athletes, we’re going to be straight dogshit for years. He ain’t out recruiting UGA or Clemson.
