Is Sims gone?

If he raised your hopes, that is all - ALL - on you. He never raised my hopes even a little bit, even once. He lowered my hopes the day he was hired. And they just kept going down.

A guy with no speed, no arm and holds the ball too long
Vs
A guy who doesn’t want to play

That’s the state of our program all right
I don't think his arm strength is that bad. He is really bad about holding the ball too long though.

But I'd like to see them bring in the Clemson transfer and make him a running QB who throws the occasional short pass or even jump pass in short yardage plays.

We go with Gibson. If help us needed, we have the Clemson transfer. After that we have a couple of walkons to use. For the UNC game I would simplify what we do to run straight at them with as many blockers as we can get at the point of attack. Mix in a few play action passes. Play good defense and hope for the best.

Ummmm, I recommend forgetting about that guy. Best for all concerned.

You’ll probably see Nate or Kaleb Edwards take qb snaps before some of those guys.

Sims refusing to play is worse than Gibson running out of bounds. He shouldn’t suit up again. Put the Clemson transfer in, or run wildcat, or punt on 1st down. If he was too banged up to play he shouldn’t have been suited up. Poser.

I don’t have all the details so I’m not going to publicly bash Sims, regardless of what I think or feel about this. But Brent Key has information we don’t. If the rumors are true and Sims refused to play when told to go in when Pyron got hurt then Brent Key needs to leave him in Atlanta for the next two games. The entitlement culture of this locker-room needs to be eliminated even if it means cutting ties with your best QB.

Agreed that we need just need a normal coach who can take us from dumpster fire status to mediocre. Then we can get to average then above average. It’s called hard work and building a program of hard work. What we’ve seen the last 4 years is the opposite of that so it’s no surprise that his so called star recruits have built a program now known as soft and easy wins. UGA will use our game as a spring practice to see which of Beck, Vandagrif, and Stockton shows out. It’s just sad that they have 4 QB’s we would drool over and we’ll be starting Gibson.
Different era of college football. $$$ has killed a once great amateur sport.

I would say that has already happened. He is never mentioned and if a reporter asks Key about him it’s like asking your spouse a question that they don’t want to discuss.

I think Sims is done for this year. I think he is healing up, so he is 100%, next year. Now, with that, I do think he will portal out and go to a different school. I further predict he will be a great QB, wherever he ends up. Once he unlearns everything taught here, we will be much better. I have no anger towards him. All I can say is, I understand.

This situation is on Key. You say “he didn’t feel he could contribute”. Then you boot him from the team (no gym, no practice, no AA dining, no nothing other than medical care for injuries) if he refused to play. If he didn’t refuse to go in, there was no need for the press conference theatrics.

Since the press conference did happen, you either boot him from the team or you have a “I’m a man! I am 40! Come at me, bro!” type press conference.

You don’t have to kick him off the team. But you do have him in vigorous rehab and conditioning, unless doctors say that is unwise. Then, you have him off the foot, getting therapy and rehab, certainly not standing for four hours dressed out on game day. It all comes back to a terribly handled situation.
