Is Sims gone?

My advice to Jeff and his family is don't read the comments. The feeling of anonymity on social media/the internet can bring out the worst in people. It gives a voice to the idiots. If he and his family are going to get bent out of shape like this, then he's gonna have a tough time mentally and emotionally handling the target that is automatically put on your back as a D1 athlete in a prominent position like QB.

Also, I'm not sure if there's any merit to the rumors that he refused to go in. I wasn't there and simply don't know what to believe. Probably best that Key doesn't dress Sims if he'd not ready to actually go in when needed.

100%. This is the source of all the consternation. When you practice in full pads all week, you're listed as able to play in an emergency situation all week, and you dress out and are in pads on the sideline during the game...questions are naturally going to arise when the team needs you but you can't go in because you don't feel healthy enough.

I'm 99.99% sure of the source who posted it. He is someone who has some inside knowledge of the program but he sits right near Jeff's family and heard/saw it with his own ears/eyes during the game from the lower west.

This situation is on Key. You say “he didn’t feel he could contribute”. Then you boot him from the team (no gym, no practice, no AA dining, no nothing other than medical care for injuries) if he refused to play. If he didn’t refuse to go in, there was no need for the press conference theatrics.

Since the press conference did happen, you either boot him from the team or you have a “I’m a man! I am 40! Come at me, bro!” type press conference.
I could see Key doing the “I’m a man, I’m 40” baloney.

I'm totally okay with players wanting to get fully healthy. I'm sure he has ulterior motives like the transfer portal or the NFL draft. I dont think he is draftable but I'm sure his measurables will attract attention so who knows? Regardless of true motives, it's 100% old school to force a kid out there to play through injuries. This is why older ex players walk with limps or have spaghetti brains.

Maybe we get lucky and the depth chart and weekly press conference address today. And then we can get back to discussing the best trick plays and the merits of punting on third down.

I have to imagine it will be the first thing Key addresses and he probably won't take questions on it.

Hopefully the announcement is either that Sims is starting next Saturday or he cannot play due to injury. Him staying on as an emergency QB would be really bad for everyone involved.

It must suck to have the musings of us idiots thrown in your face. 15 years ago you wouldn’t have known how people REALLY felt about your kid unless you were to eavesdrop on a few tailgates or stadium conversations. Not anymore.

So, yes, it sucks. But it’s the same EVERYWHERE.

Actually that’s not entirely true. I suspect we’re a lot kinder than most.

pretty sure many make how they feel quite known during the games

I think Sims is done for this year. I think he is healing up, so he is 100%, next year. Now, with that, I do think he will portal out and go to a different school. I further predict he will be a great QB, wherever he ends up. Once he unlearns everything taught here, we will be much better. I have no anger towards him. All I can say is, I understand.
You lost me at great... Dont think thats possible w this dude no matter where he goes.
