It’s Comical How Bad of a Head Coach Geoff Collins Is/Was

This thread is embarrassing

The ultimate Clown clip comes from 2019
It’s fourth quarter. It’s 45-0. At home. Against Va Tech
And he yuks it up like it’s a big joke when the refs tell him to get back
CBR, GOL and PJ for one wouldn’t be down 45-0 at home and two, they’d be spitting nails and have steam coming out their ears like a pope was getting elected
But not Clown boy. Nope

After I saw this, I was done. And there was no turning back
To think something was a big joke during what was then one of our worst home kisses ever (and somehow, we managed to top thst. More than once) showed me he didn’t need to be coaching this program
(Tried to upload but file was too large. But it came at 11:56 mark of the fourth)

Kirby Smart and now Pat Fitzgerald put Collins in perspective. Collins cared about our players doing right off the field and never brought scandal to our program. He also fostered a positive culture among the players such that the sort of hazing that happened at Northwestern probably hasn't been happening here. I appreciate that.

The payoff to the coddling, hand-holding and borderline virtue signaling was a stellar 10-28 record.

Never heard any tales of hazing under Gailey or PJ, either.

Say what you want about Collins and his blather of "they don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." PJ's first season as Georgia Southern HC meant a road trip to Lexington, Va., and VMI (awesome trip). His former QB at Navy (Chris McCoy - yeah that one, the kid from Georgia who led Navy to a win over Tech) drove over to see coach and the game.
When PJ was at Tech and was inducted into the Georgia Southern Hall of Fame, they had a halftime ceremony for the inductees. Sitting front row was Josh Nesbitt.

So basically you are saying that as long as the coach cares about the players, winning doesn't matter? Ok hire me, I'll do it for half of Key's salary and we will have the best student-athletes in the history of sports. We probably won't win, I have coached a lot of baseball but not football, but since we care most about the players and I wouldn't want them to get hurt. We'll probably just have the kneel play on offense and on defense our 1 play will simply be to hug the opponent so they know they are loved.

This seems a lot like when you ask your buddy about the blind date he’s setting you up with and he says “she doesn’t sweat much for a fat girl. You can appreciate that”.

this must be a TFG alter or close family member.

My interaction with Gailey was very limited, just one or two occasions. But from those, he had a great decency about him, in the classic sense, so I don't think he would have put up with anything like what is being purported to have taken place at Northwestern.
PJ woulda whipped somebody's ass for that stuff. He woulda had them running stadium steps and then run them out the program.

Hazing is bad. You don’t need to be a bad coach to develop a culture that is against hazing.

ultimately I have no real problem with this mindset. I just don’t want the coach to simultaneously embarrass GT, and make the players worse than when they arrived. In that way Collins stole potential millions from more than a few players and therefore was not good for them or their families. But yea, I would much prefer a coach who is all about a respectful environment and making sure the football team is a source of pride in terms of off the field behavior.

Not saying I liked the guy as our coach. Just expressing appreciation for one thing he did right. It could've been worse.

Yes, Paul Johnson and Chan Gailey also kept our players in line. We've had a long history of coaches who instilled a good character to the team and the players. (Though there were some aspects of the Collins character I didn't like.)

It really is, how many times do we need to rehash this? He's gone and everyone knows he sucked.
I was just puting news out nothing more yet we get around to CPJ or Bobo the dancing circus clown discussions all the time

Anything could always be worse. Did you not have the awareness that this was going to come across here similar to praising Hitler for the Autobahn. Technically true (sort of), but still Hitler.

Can you confirm @JJacket ?

Edit: Apparently not. JJacket ded.

I figure TFG has only got about 28 years to go before he matches the disdain for B*** L****, who surpassed even Bud Carson's exile by about 5 years.
