James johnson quits

Since this isn't the hive, I'm going to be straight with Stingtalkers: This might be addition by subtraction.I haven't been more disappointed in a guys production than JJ last year. I thought he'd end up being a Will Glover-type, but after Calvin left we saw the real JJ.Aligator arms, giving up on routes, dropping balls. My dad and I discussed who we thought might be gone with the new regime, and JJ was right there at the top. Why? He seems to lack the toughness that GS, Earls, and Bebe have all shown. And his comments about PJ "hopefully just saying he'll run the TO to trick people" probably didn't put him in good graces.Good luck and thanks for your contributions James, but we'll win without you.

Good! What did he ever do but complain? He complained because we booed Chan Gailey during the VT game. I guess he thought getting your brains beat in should be supported.

When Georgia Tech's leading returning receiver James Johnson said "... we're going to hope that Coach does not do all that much running. We just hope he's saying all that to trick people," Johnson came out firing.

"He caught 30 balls (actually 25) and they went 7-6," Johnson said. "If something wasn't wrong, if what they were doing was so great, we wouldn't be here."It's not like we're coming in here and dismantling this high-powered machine that was lighting everybody up."

I wish him the best. Football at the collegiate level takes a great deal of dedication, and if he didn't want to give 100% to the team it was time for him to go... I wish him the best though

I didn't expect him to start, but I was looking forward to having more than 3 scholarship WRs on our team this year. Ugh.

He has been fighting over this for a couple weeks hard. After talking with him I feel like he made the right choice for himself, I know James will do good things in his life and now is his chance to go out in the real world and conquer things other then just on the football field. James is an outstanding young man and someone as a leader who will be missed in the locker room by teammates. Thanks for all the hard work you put in JJ, I know how far you have come along since you arrived, I wish you well!

We have 2 freshman coming in who could play WR, also Clyburn and Cone are pretty good WR's and having a good spring so far. I still am not sold on Greg staying at A-back.

Yeah i agree with most of you guys. I dont think he was that great. Plus this means were getting younger and younger. In 2010 were going to be awesome.

bummer. he had such a promising year in 2006, and things looked good in 2007, but he had a lot of injuries. :(

I for one am not to worried about WR at this point. It has been pointed out several times that WR is not the most important position in this offense and I would think that the A-backs can move outside if needed to the WR position. With Wright and Peeples coming in this could move Greg Smith back.

That is a pretty long list of injuries for a young man to deal with.

He, I believe, is thinking of his future life, and wanting to be able to enjoy it to the fullest.

and you have to respect a man for that

Well, we all know how BOR feels about this...can't wait for him to post something here...

Now that JJ's gone, I am really interested in what RB Clyburn can do out there.

The kids videos really blew me away. :wow:

Look forward to having an extra ship to give. JJ showed some pretty weak character through several of his quotes over the last year. If he is considered a "leader" then I'm glad he is leaving the football team. His attitude was transparently weak and he made extremely poor choices for quotes in the newspapers.
Won't miss him.

It just figures that as soon as a REAL coach came in and started being a hands on coach who held players accountable, JJ fled the field. BYE BYE
