Jeff Monken and USCe

Take away 2014, and the athletes Geoff Collins provided him, and Johnson's tenure at GT was a joke, and the joke was getting worse by the year.
Okey dokey. While I'm at it, I may as well take away the 9-win 2016 season, too. Is that sufficiently cherry-picked for you?

Paul had his ups and downs, but to say his tenure was a "joke" is hypercritical and over the top.

You mean to tell me CGC doesn't use recent history to tell his story of what this program can be? Of course, he does. It's such an easier sell to do so than if he had to go the route of - I'm building on a dream that you can't actually touch, feel, or see for yourself. But, trust me anyway.

For example, which is more powerful to kids as to what Collins envisions for this program - the Orange Bowl trophy from 2014 or the Sugar Bowl trophy from 1956? Because, as far as big name bowl wins, that's the gap in our trophy case. Speaking about the '09 ACC title or the '90 or '98 ("shared") one? Competing for 4 ACC titles in the past 10 years or competing for 2 ('06/'90) in the past 20 years before that? How about clips of BDS at night with it rocking and thumping Top 5 teams? CGC likes telling those stories, right? Well, since we beat 2 Top5 teams at home in the last 10 years and it was something like 40 years since that happened, there's another chapter to our recent past.

The story of our program has been made stronger over the past 10+ years.

You sound like a complete dipshit right now.
If the ACC runner up went to orange bowls in the 90s we would have gone to 3 in a row.

Might as well. That clown wants to argue recency bias doesn’t play a monumental impact to recruiting. Dabo recruits equally off of 1981 as he does 2016 and 2108 or whatever. Let’s just blindly ignore the sky rocketing of their recruiting since those very specific years.

Face it: the program is damaged beyond repair and we should close this farce of an "athletic" program rather than continue this abortion of a rebuild. It's only right.
I want to know where you went while on hiatus.

I never want to go there.

Don't really know enough about Monken to have an opinion on whether SC should hire him, but cpj won a conference championship, played for a couple more and went to two orange bowls, usce hasn't had that level of success even if you add up the entire history of their program

The spread option never works at any level. USCe should close their program if they are considering a risky gimmick. Look what happened here- we were the laughingstock of college football from 2008-2018 and now we should just give up football altogether.
Paul Johnson destroyed georgia tech and should be criminally prosecuted for fraud. I would rather lose every game 73-7 than have that grifter's shell game on hallowed Grant Field again.

OOOH but what about the orange bowls and the championship games? those were accomplished through illegal and unscrupulous blocking techniques any tech fan should disown.

If you supported tech athletics in any way during those option years, you should delete your account.

JFC, this is too dumb for the other site.

If he could evolve it more in the direction of the spread formations with a good passing game he might be successful there. A pure triple option coach isn’t going to win the SEC East.
But all the other SC coaches did? Excluding the old ball coach.
They should have never left the ACC.

so mister 'joined in 2018 and has 22 posts,' go back to your other dumb site you obviously frequent. dawgrant.com or sec talk or whatever. don't forget to delete your account.

CPJ did the job of an OC while we paid him to be a head coach. That was the main problem.

When CGC wins an OB, he’ll actually successfully market the öööö out of it, unlike CPJ.

Does this happen elsewhere? Or are Tech fans unique in squashing and ööööting on their own program’s success?
GT fans have done that forever, like pooping on their only coach to NEVER have a losing season, despite severe injuries and a hostile hill.

I remember one time when GOL smashed the doggies and was feeling triumphant. He walked into one of those alumni things ready to be a conquering hero. The first question was criticism of a goal line offensive series buried inside the win. His face changed from happiness to hatred, and he soon afterwards went to what he thought would be greener pastures.

You mean that he left for his dream job which he wanted so bad for so long that he literally had a special clause put into his contract with Tech about being able to move there?

Yeah, I'm not sure hurt feelings about questions from fans was the cause of that move.

you're implying he did anything. I support charging him with fraud and using the reclaimed money to close the program.
we could sell grant field & the practice field to a real estate developer - our tuition costs would drop.

But i suppose having a 'football' program is more important than giving back.
