I wish more schools would do this and start reigning in these ridiculous coaching contracts.
Indeed, it's gotten ridiculous that it's borderline politically incorrect to pay HCs less than $10,000,000 per year. For God's sake, a college football coach is basically a charismatic gym teacher with, maybe, a Rainman-esque interest in X's and O's. More than generous of a description if you're talking about Dabo. $3,000,000 per year is already far past generous. Water always finds its level.I wish more schools would do this and start reigning in these ridiculous coaching contracts.
Correct. Maybe the first intelligent comment I have read from you here. It's not P5 money. It's barely FBS money. It now officially makes sense why we didn't attempt a coaching search. 2.8 is the bottom of the ACC.
This argument tactic doesn't work when the person you're responding to never ever said the first quote you made. That was YOUR (and some others here) thinking. Not his. Or mine, for that matter.“We should hire Key because he’ll take a team friendly deal that lets us pay more assistants”
Key takes team friendly deal
“WE WERENT EVEN GOING TO PAY A REAL COACH”
This is the first I've heard that we didn't attempt a coaching search. It's very odd that we waited so long to announce Key, hired a search firm, and interviewed all of those other candidates if we weren't attempting a coaching search.

Cabrera lied about his commitment to Tech football.

So you’d feel better if we paid Key $6 million a year just so it looks like we’re spending more money. That’s genius. You ööööers - not just here, but all sports fans - with your "team friendly deals" can go öööö yourselves. Didn't someone a few posts up just say it's a business negotiation?

Oh right
That’s retarted

The assistant money is only good if used well. Worried he'll just promote Weinke to OC and give him a raise.

He thinks the winner of a dick measuring contest is whoever takes the biggest dick, and boy oh boy does he like to be the winner. Not only that, the more you pay over MSRP the better the car is. It is much more impressive to people you want to recruit to ride in it.
