Key just failed his interview

Pyron is young and got baited into throwing a pick because he underestimated the speed of the Miami safety. Gibson, same thing except he isn’t young, just no experience at the P5 level. Better to have Pyron learn from his mistakes.

As for Key, there is no point in talking to him if he can’t get to 4-4 in the ACC. He wasn’t going to beat Clemson, so he has had a fair chance. If he wants any shot, he has to beat unc.

We also know keys Oline coaching has been horrible for 4 years
Miami is hot garbage. Like legit hot garbage. Playing with their 4th backup so I don’t wanna hear it

Neat. I’m not saying we should hire Key. I’m saying the teams’ performance tonight should not influence your opinion on Key. Because teams that are down to their 3rd string QB often look bad. You don’t have to draw drastic conclusions just because you’re sad we lost.

If you liked Key before you shouldn’t magically dislike him now because Pyron got hurt. And if you didn’t like Key from 2019-2021 you shouldn’t have magically liked him when Pitt turned it over a million times to give us a W.

Stop making emotional snap decisions.

I thought the o-line didn't look awful tonight. The play calling was crap, though. I was pretty pissed after the razzle dazzle interception throw targeting the ööööing tight end. We make good gains on the ground, we are driving for the tying score, and then Bam! Stupid play call. If this year has taught us anything, it is that we should not target or rely on our tight ends, as they are pretty much wasted downs.

I do not think that it is a coincidence that we hire Long away from a woeful Tulane team last year, and Tulane is 8-2 this year. His feel for the game and play calling is awful.

Key may yet be a viable head coach, but we need new (and good) coordinators as a compulsory measure.

We might have to hire Brent on the cheap to rebuild the roster so that better candidates will be interested. I'm not sure that Chadwell will want to come here and rebuild the roster from scratch when there are better situations he is in contention for. Same with most of the other coaching options.
So you want to dig the ditch deeper so the next guy can come and and work harder to fill it back up again. Mmkay

We looked bad before we Pyron went out. But it wasn't Pyron's fault or Key's either, although as coach he must accept the responsibility. We looke terrible on D in the first half, and especially the first quarter; they didn't look prepared for Miami's offense. Pyron didn't look as good as he did last week, but with the plays Long called, no QB would have looked good. That absurd and unneeded razzle-dazzle TD gimmick play proved once and for all what an idiot Long is. We were in position to tie the game, and after that STUPID play, it was all downhill.

He is in a very tough spot. The assumed leader of the team has quit. It was less obvious last week because it was still close to his injury. Now it’s obvious, and the team morale is falling. Sad. We will lose by 60 to UGA.

For the tier of coaches we are looking at I agree that Tech is looking much more like a "project". Many of the names thrown out currently coach for schools that could literally have a rock admitted.

I had hoped we would win 6 games under Key, go bowling and he was offered the job convincingly. However, as aeromech pointed out there is a case to be made for having Key salvage this recruiting cycle and attempt to moneyball the portal. I have true concerns about the depth of this team in all positions without Charlie and Ace next year.

I think if Key now has the itch to be a HC, he has probably done enough to earn a shot at a G5 school. He was in the mix for the UAB job a few years ago, supposedly.

The ditch can't get much deeper as far as the roster is concerned. This talk of guys hitting the portal, where are they going to go? If we can get Key for cheap, maybe we will be in a better financial position to hire the next coach and it wouldn't be that hard to believe Key would leave a better culture if not a better roster.

It seems to me that any P5 safety could have made it over to where Pyrons first Int came down. It was a true floater. I’m sure he learned something with that pass.

Somewhat the same with Gibson’s first Int. Too much air under both.

He probably learned that he had a broken collarbone.

I learned that our tights ends haven't been coached how to come back and fight for a ball.

One score game and he puts in a guy who admitted to losing on purpose instead of even making an attempt to win. Fire everyone. Clean house.
You truly need to do some research. Simms was asked to go in and refused to go in when asked by the coaches and his own dad. This is out there you could’ve read it. The head coach had no choice but to put in Gibson. Come on do some simple research before you put up this crap.
