I can't make sense of the "emergency basis" thing. I'll try to be generous and assume good faith though. Maybe Sims doesn't feel 100% or is afraid of reinjury, so he told the coaches he'd play if it's an emergency. But they never spelled out what an "emergency" is. So today went like:

Key: Help! Our QB has gone down in a 1-score game. The team's bowl eligibility is at stake.
Sims: Not emergency enough.
Key: öööö! Put in the bad Zach!

Kudos to Gibson for having the spine to go in. After those 2 interceptions it would have been easy for him to say "Ouch! my foot hurts!" and limp off the field too.

Tech medical staff cleared him to play. He was asked to go in by his coaches and family. Said no to both.

I just think as fans if we don't know for sure why he's not playing we should assume the best possible reason

If he were healthy and refusing to play, I trust the coaches will take care of that

I think you need to listen to the post game presser. He’s either throwing the kid under the bus as part of this grand week to week leave our opponents guessing scheme or he was medically cleared and wouldn’t go in.
