Key post game press conference

If this is true, Sims should not be allowed access to any training facilities or staff and not permitted to attend practices or games. He can rehab his hangnail at any of the Atlanta area spas and we don’t need to waste another minute of our resources on him.
This.

There are two games left on the schedule and, probably more so than with any other season, I just want this season to end. Don’t get me wrong, I still want to win these last two games, despite the fact that is not going to happen, but I’m ready to turn the page. It’s time to get a new staff in here (nothing personal against Brent Key, but the C****** era and those associated with it just need to move on) and move forward.

He didn’t say Sims refused to go in. He said he was unable to go in, and “I’ll leave it at that.”

He said Sims was available for emergency purposes but that he was unavailable at the time Pyron went down and he'll leave it at that. Then a reporter asked a direct follow up "Was he medically cleared to play?" and Key did a little false start, looked pained, and said "I'll just leave it at that" again.

I'm not sure how to interpret that other than Sims refusing to go in. There's no way they wouldn't have wanted him to go in given that putting Gibson in is basically the end of the game unfortunately.

Unfortunately, I do not recommend this. Sims has us over a barrel. If we go scorched earth on him, he will claim that we are abusing an injured player - he will claim he could not play and that we forced an injured player into action. If we pull his scholly or otherwise banish him from the kingdom, he'll scream to the rafters and the court of public opinion will side with him.

The wisest course of action is for us to say, "Sims is out for the season" and shove his ass into the portal with one minute left in the dwag game.

I'm genuinely curious how this is playing out in the locker room.

That’s certainly one way we could interpret it.

Key is actually going to leave the cupboard bare this time. From what I heard, if he got to 5 wins he has a good chance of getting the HC job, 6 it was his for sure. I find it doubtful he beats UNC next week.

We are in a new era of college football. Players opt out of playing all the time. According to most, the seasons over, why even play at this point?

You wouldn't be the only one..

On one hand I feel bad that Key is faced with the task of having to eek out wins from players filled to the brim of the culture GC left behind, but on the other hand he has been here the entire time GC was. He knew full well what the culture was and what the attitude of the players are. The next coach will have to sift these players for the salvageable gems, rid the culture, tap the portal to fill in the holes. Not to mention install a new culture, etc. Easier said than done. Thanks to GC and this culture, this is harder to transition out of than the TO. I'm looking forward to the day we announce the beginning of this.

The cupboard was pretty low when Key took over; but with the last of CPJ's players leaving, namely Carpenter, this cupboard will be bare. Make no mistake though, this is not as much Key's fault as it is Collins and the Juice Crew.

What’s the worst possible case scenario for your quarterback position?

Jeff Sims. Jeff Sims is the worst possible scenario.

Nothing could be worse than having this kid on the team.

Key said he refused to go in. Key wouldn’t have asked if he weren’t medically cleared.

I suspect he is staying on the team because of NIL deals that he has. Those deals can’t be performance related but they can be contingent on him being on the team
Key never said he refused to go in. Not in the post game presser. Said he was emergency available only and not available when Gibson went in. Then no further comments. Key opened up a can of worms with what he did say and then spilled the can over with ambiguity. He’s a dumbass.

Not sure I agree when several guys from the last regime are on NFL teams from this previous draft.

Key was the supposed master recruiter master OL coach. One day you will realize how hoodwinked you are and accept that Key and Collins are the same.

I sat in section 103 with my two sons. We noticed Sims A LOT during the game. He had zero limp and huge smile most of the game. What was insane as a former coach to see this former starter upperclassman be such a HUGE distraction!!! He was cutting up and have a good time bouncing from groups of players. He was socializing more than watching the game with a doubt. I would notice key parts of the game where the offensive unit and team huddled together talking and he is about 30 yards away with a group of redshirt freshman’s in sweat pants. He had no desire or interest what was going on. The clown recruited this prize recruit which sums up his era perfectly. We need to remove this cancerous tumor from our team and anyone remotely like this. Against UVA when things got tough for him, he made a horrible interception in end zone and got yanked i was watching him and i said he is done at Tech. For some reason with him and Gibbs you just instantly know they don’t wanna be here anymore. No shame in that but to sit there and be a distraction to your team who is fighting hard and just quit to me that is the ultimate shame
100% agree. Sims is a major league distraction and cancer to this team.

A few days ago most of you were still riding Geoff Sims' nuts about how tough and motivated he is lmao. I have NO idea what this fanbase ever saw in him, it was always clear he was a no-heart airhead. He played, what, like 4 games to completion in his entire career? His 'career' here makes you wonder if he was even an actual person, and not just a collective hallucination.

Citation please. A few days ago this board was pretty sure what the situation was.

Define “not available”. I define it as refused. He is medically cleared. If you are medically cleared and not available then what are the other options other than refused
