Kiffin and Ole Miss sued over mental health issues

I don’t disagree in general but you’re also assuming this kid doesn’t have a real issue. We are only seeing one side of this. I’m not sure there’s a context here where a 50 year old guy calling an 18 year old kid a “pussy” is really productive or beneficial either.
What I said is based solely upon the supposed transcript of the recorded call.

This is the softest most pathetic response ever. Even if he has a real issue, he's got a duty to perform. Kids need to learn responsibility, because the world doesn't stop when you're feeling sad.

Okay. And there’s a way an old man shouldn’t interact with someone else’s 18 year old kid probably. I appreciate that you’re a badass and I’m just soft pathetic little boy and that probably explains the difference in opinion.

22 year old adult. Not "someone else's 18 year old kid"

If you're 18 or over, you're an adult. Life's tough, buttercup, and the world doesn't revolve around your feelings. I think Lane spoke to him exactly how he should have and exactly how this player's father should.

Pretty much every decent head football coach in the history of football coaches is a jackass that is tough on players and pushes them to not act like pussies.

While I don't disagree, I feel like a lot of the coaches we picture here wouldn't have thrown that little impulsive hissy fit when kicking him off the team. It's one thing to be tough for motivation, it's another to call a player names on his way out the door.

You seem like a really tough dude that the people around you probably look up to.

The transcript is bad. It's an unfortunate tirade by a known jackass. But it doesn't amount to anything more than PR leverage. The complaint before then doesn't really allege the kid ever vocalized a need for mental health help. In an ideal world maybe he showed signs that they noticed and reached out to him for help, but there's no expectation that they should. The closest thing in there is needing a "mental break" and not being ready to meet with Kiffin. That's a far cry from "I'm depressed/I need help/my anxiety is out of control/etc.". I don't think Mom reaching out saying he is in some crisis amounts to much. If anything it implies he is getting attention for his mental health.

Maybe. Though there can be some benefit to calling attention to the fact that a grown man is acting like a total pussy.

I’m surprised Lane even took a face to face meeting after the kid ducked him for a month. That’s more than I would have given him.

Any mention of the player's dad anywhere in this drama?

Have you watched Swamp Kings? Telling a player who refuses to meet with the coach to stop being a pussy is a nothingburger.
That's not really what I am saying. Calling someone else a pussy to get them to push harder while they have 400lbs two inches off their chest is one thing, berating this kid when you have your foot up his ass already booting him out is just malicious and childlike. I had multiple verbal and very public dress downs in my training, but it was never personal insults.

You cry "mental health" these days and people have to give you a free pass on things or else. That's the "real world" Kiffin is about to find out he lives in, ironically.
That's exactly right. The "real world" has changed and it ain't what Kiffin thinks it is.
