Kiffin and Ole Miss sued over mental health issues

Maybe. Though there can be some benefit to calling attention to the fact that a grown man is acting like a total pussy.

I’m surprised Lane even took a face to face meeting after the kid ducked him for a month. That’s more than I would have given him.

Agreed on the latter part. I imagine the Sabans of the world would have had an assistant handle it with a phone call. But even if Saban did an in person meeting I feel like it would have been a lot more “Sorry you feel that way. We’re done here. So-and-so will take you to get your stuff.” I don’t think he’d waste the energy dressing down someone he kicked off the team. Just comes off weak.

(For the record, I doubt either handling of the situation would have prevented the player from dropping a lawsuit. Just optics stuff).

Damn, there are a lot of tough guy assholes in this thread. I don't know what is going on in the player's life and neither do any of you. Hell, we had a recruit step in front of a freight train because of unresolved mental issues. Jesus, you guys are douchebags.

This is exactly the way I was treated as a kid and exactly the way they need to be treated today. Do your job and worry about your feelings on your own time.

Hold the f* up --- is he a KID or is he an ADULT as your fellow internet badasses are stating? Because I promise you, as an adult, not one of you fat öööös is calling another grown man a pussy to his face.

I'm on your side here, but don't threaten to throw me in the briar patch.

That would be about the best thing I was ever called by a coach, or some on this board. LOL.
Maybe it’s because I work in the trenches of one of the most adversarial jobs there is short of having people shoot live rounds at you that I have thick skin for this stuff. But none of this bothers me. I heard worse from high school coaches (given, that was back in the pre-snowflake era).

I hope this crashes down on Lane today and tomorrow and his team comes in unprepared and gets their asses kicked. I don't care legally one way or the other. I just want out of Oxford with a "W" and move on with the season.

True fact. We have never lost in Oxford
True fact. We have never lost in Mississippi.

Edit: How tf have we only played Ole Miss and Miss State 5 times each in history??? I know we refused to play in Mississippi but I had assumed we played them semi-regularly in Atlanta in the early years. Pretty crazy.

I think metal and emotional health issues are rampant within the coaching community, too. Always has been.

I wonder what he would have done had he played under Jon Tenuta?

This is another ironic JJ post.

As I said in another thread, in the pre-ESPN days, nobody played them in Oxford. Prior to our departure from the SEC (1964), UT played them in Memphis or Knoxville forever, playing at MS only once. GA played them only 4x, twice in the Cesspool, once in Memphis, and once in ATL. UF played them 9x, five in JAX, three in Gainesville, and once in MS. Vandy played them 34x through 1960, 24x in NSH, 7x in Memphis, and only 3x in MS. It wasn't just us.

ive only heard of them doing this on the practice field.. besides kids are ööööing pussys these days you can't tell them that anymore though which is why they are
It's why they all have cry rooms with soft chairs where you can go a hug it out, right? Are there any of those planned in the new Edge?

Dang. So I guess their entire home schedule was Miss State, the LA and AL schools and whatever non-conference they could cobble together? Same for Miss State? The struggle was real, I guess.

I understand what Lane is trying to say; however, he could have said it a little bit more professionally. Then again, we don't know the whole entire story. This kid might have been a problem child for a while and Lane was probably at a level 10 saying this.

Yes, and this is why it was so totally bogus for the tandem of Miss/Miss State to blackball us back in 1978. Nobody wanted to play them in MS. Even UK only played in MS 4x between 1944 and 1961. The rest were in KY or in Memphis. Even LSU, who played Miss 48x between 1902 and 1964, only played in MS 9x, and 3 of those were in Jackson. Alabama, after starting off with three straight in MS (1907, 09, and 10), between 1912 and 1964, played Miss 15x - never in the state of MS. Auburn, prior to 1964 only played Miss 6x, never once entering MS.

Check this website out, if you haven't already. It's very informative.
