This thread reminds me of all the times I've tried to justify my Saturday night drunken shenanigans.

Yeah. I remember PJ's theme being, "We could be a better team but have a worse record this season." Which was a fair statement, given the schedule and the fact that it's difficult to win 11 games in general, but I don't think anyone thought he meant we could be 3-6....

I remember QuadF's quote above, but I certainly don't look at that as saying we're in a rebuilding year.

Two years ago I was at the UGA game and his clock management at the end cost us the game. We could have done a lot more with a 2 minute offense, but he played to not to lose and go to OT. Wrong decision and it cost us the game.

You're only as good as your record. And our record blows. Just beat UGA.

I never accused you of hoping we lose. But while most GT fans reveled in last year's success and still look back upon it fondly, you somehow discount it. I just think that's sad, as a fan.

If you can't see the difference between CCG GT and CPJ GT, I don't know what to tell you. You point out the fact that PJ has only had 2 10+ win seasons in 8 years, like that's a bad thing. Gailey had 0 and everybody knew he was never going to have one. Know how many other GT coaches have won 10 games twice?

I agree with this. Our margin of error in football is very narrow. Recruiting restrictions are killing us on defense. There is no way around it. Until something changes on the Hill, the triple option is the only way we can be competitive. Do I like it? No, but that is the reality of the situation.

One season of poor offense out of 8 does not make the scheme or coach crappy. If we had a decent defense in 2009 or 2014 we would have been in the national championship picture. In 2010-2013 a decent defense was probably enough to win the conference.

This offense has execution problems. It is appropriate to hold the coaching staff responsible for these problems. But there are obvious mitigating factors. Part of it is replacing all our skill players with young guys and part of it is injuries. I don't really have an explanation for the offensive line. They are the number 1 reason we are sucking, and there is a lot of experience there. For a while I had thought that Sewak needed to go, but then we put together a decent line in 2014. Was that luck? Have the injuries been too much this year? Was Shaq really that important? I don't think losing Shaq explains it because his replacement is Shamire who is probably our best lineman right now. I have never seen pass blocking this bad, and there are a ton of missed assignments when we run the ball.

The only thing I might blame Johnson for at the end of the season is not firing Sewak.

This is a perfect description of dwag fans, and we can how far that has gotten them even with all their "factory" advantages (if you can call them advantages). That alone should be reason enough not to take that stance.

We certainly DO NOT have the talent to beat any of the three teams left on our schedule. We don't have the talent to beat Virginia. Virginia. That was not a flukey, crazy play, bounce-of-the-ball loss. They lined up and beat us. Virginia. Cavman. They poured Zima down our trousers and made us like it. They poured us a saucer of milk and made us lap it up and purr for them. We are the Wake of our division. The wheels have come completely off.

What's frustrating is watching us play this year is like trying to crank an engine that's almost turning over but getting flooded every time and then we get t-boned by a train because the car was on the tracks.

From what I could see, you don't really watch the games. You just keep going outside to smoke. :biggrin:
 
We lost Gotsis early and Hunt Days to suspension before the game. So, a true freshman playing full time at DT. Not good.

I knew we were way undersized on the front four but wow.

You make a valid point but I think you over-estimate the "Talent" of the mutts.

They are freaking awful and are certainly beatable. Our D will likely hold them to 21 pts or less so it will be up to our offense to score at least that many.

Yeah, I didn't hear about it either, but I do recall one of the TV announcers mentioning he wasn't playing.

It's bad news bears when 2 of your top 3 DTs are out.
