Latest rumor is Godsey was offered multi year OC contract

He couldn't recruit, and how does it look to the team and fans to accept an at best lateral move, midseason. I'd say dolphins ownership sends him walking rather than finish the season.

Yeah, this is different than a coordinator finishing out the year after accepting a head coaching position. It would be really awkward to stay on for another month in Miami with everyone knowing you're leaving for basically the same position at the college level.

It has "404 connection omgz that JUICE" all over it. Geoff has a clear preference for hiring former GT players to be coaches here. It pays in recruiting, but it sure hasn't paid on the field yet.
Does anyone else want to take on this project? Serious question. Not sure we know the answer.

Meh, the staff could recruit and let the potential O players know who he is. Would Goose really be the "closer" for a visit? Isn't that the one thing that CGC does well?

But the second sentence is mostly likely--that the Dolphins tell him to move on from his co-coordinator position if he is taking a job at his alma matter (which I'm sure that they would understand why he would take a step down to do so).

If anyone claims to know the answer, check for a hidden waffle house cup anywhere on their person. If found, slap it onto the ground and walk away.

If it's between Godsey and Key, I'd definitely take Godsey. I do think he'd be a clear upgrade over Patenaude, too. Is he the best realistic candidate for the job? Not sure about that.

I wouldn't want Whisenhunt, but honestly, if we're comparing results, he has been more successful as an OC than Godsey has been. But there's not the same level of nostalgia with Whisenhunt, which is why he has zero votes in the OC replacement poll.

DO you member that screen shot of the conversation between cdp and Perry? I member. Don't think we would be losing any recruiting advantage replacing dave with Goose.

This has "head coach in waiting" with the right performance all over it

If the future could be guaranteed to turn out the way it was when O'Leary was promoted from DC I will take it
That's definitely the play, but he's not as credentialed in my mind and I think we're letting nostalgia influence decision making. He wouldn't be a candidate otherwise.

This has "appease an angry fanbase with nostalgia" written all over it.

This. Regardless if this gets done or not, TStan can tell the donors that he made a very serious offer and tried his best to make this happen. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a donor who made this a condition of future donations and/or even offered to front the salary.

I'm probably going to catch fresh hell for this but help me understand why it has to be a Tech guy. Looking at our track history, every time we've tried to hire someone that previously played at Tech its been very underwhelming or a downright failure as either HC or as a coordinator. Curry, Fulcher, Pepper, Roof X 2.
I'm there with you. We need an AD and a HC that are actively following college football, and can spot up and coming candidates rather than going to the good old contacts list.

I don't get why a NFL OC would take a college OC job; but, from our perspective, it can't be worse than who we have.

I would also not mind giving him couple years as HC after Collins is gone.

Just avoid big long-term contracts, Stansbury, I'm looking at you.
Honestly who else of Godsey’s pedigree is going to want to sign up for a potential dumpster fire like this one? An alum who wouldn’t mind becoming HC of his alma mater might...
