This is not correct. Our recruiting budget was increased dramatically in 2019. We went from the bottom of the ACC in budget to the middle.

It seems awfully ignorant for people to say CPJ was such a bad recruiter when he was given significantly less resources than his peers. CFB is about money and GT was not investing like the people we want to beat.
Our recruiting budget was increased in 2019 because that's what CGC asked for. CPJ had the opportunity to request that much budget from the AA for recruiting but he put what he felt neccessary into it. He had access to the helicopters etc. if he wanted also but he didn't want them or feel the need.

We are still being outspent by almost everyone on our schedule.

Agreed. The age old problem of wanting to be FSU on Saturday and MIT the rest of the week. Well, the old FSU that is. I think we're pretty much on par with the current FSU.

Do you have inside knowledge or evidence that CPJ didn't ask for more budget for recruiting or are you speculating? From interviews and media back in the day he asked for it, but it wasn't there.

I can't show you on a piece of paper anywhere but I have several sources that have told me the exact same. Yes back in the day the $ wasn't there with Mbob but was there when TStan arrived.

I've heard from multiple folks a lot closer to the inner circle than I am that was the case on many occasions. TStan didn't like CPJ, period and told him in a nice way to retire. Meanwhile, he laughs on Saturdays when he sees Collins.

We can talk all the öööö in the world but CPJ has been a winner on every level. Even as a consultant with Baltimore where he's had success implementing Lamar into better offensive leader and smarter qb

There was 1 last interview AJC with PJ in the AJC back in Dec 2019, he mentioned that the only way he'd ever coach again was a special situation in which he wasn't fighting with "1 hand tied behind his back". He could whatever he wanted at GS and probably at Navy, so chances are very high he's referring to GT. From what I heard from those in the room with me at the games, most folks, while tired of the TO - blamed the lack of money and support.

Interesting. Hasn't heard that before but I'm not connected to anyone close.

Sounds like your comment needs to be made in December rather than June. Every recruit minus i believe Cornist, who Daniels personally been recruiting since 6thGrade, has multiple p5 offers.

So recruits are now only validated by having UGA, Bama, OSU offers?
You seem to like to quote words that posters haven't said.

Most of what he was referring to were the rule changes regarding cut blocking that have been popping up the last few years.

He publically stated on several occasions that if we wanted to compete with Clemson and uga we needed to invest like they were. It's hard to disagree that we are at a major disadvantage. Look at what uga spent in that article I linked above. $3.6 million. Over $1 million more than #2 Alabama. They bought their championship just like Texas A&M is trying to do.

When you look at the amount of stupid money that is being spent (A&M) and what it takes to win, I sometimes wonder if it's worth playing along.

No doubt about that. I recall the OL line blocking progressively got worse and lots of missed blocks with or without cut blocks so I don't think it played as much of a part as I think it did.

UGA as much as I hate to say develops talent much better than Tech does. Look at the nfl draft. They spend and they win. It’s nothing new. But we can’t be sports fans and not talk about it like it is. They have the funds just like all the schools where they focus on it.

Jordan Davis was a 3 star out of hs. And a 1st rnd pick due to development. Plain and simple. Look at Renfrow

It’s not hard to see when you remove the bias

These teams win due to superior development. Superior Coaching and staff. And more money

They invest while we implode. Facts are facts. We hire cheap with backloaded contracts but point the finger at “buying talent”. Which is a complete crock. Id rather jack off with sandpaper than wear red and black. But I’m not going to accuse them of doing something we have done but refuse to do now. And before anyone says we don’t … we do. There’s a reason why Duke has a superior bball program but yet the football team is mediocre at best. They spend wear they know that have a presence. We just build indoor facilities for a program and fan base that can’t fill up North Gwinnett HS i

CPJ had WRs drafted damn near every yr. Why? Because he made them more nfl caliber by learning how to block

Rose colored glasses? That’s laughable. It had dick to do with blocking changes than it did $$$.

I can't quite tell what part of my quote you're responding to. The part about buying their championships? When I say "buy their championship" I'm not taking about just "buying" players. There's a commitment to coaches, facilities and players. I mentioned that in post #137. It sounds like we mostly agree.

My mistake. Then we both see it and i agree.

To not think rules targeted at reducing the effectiveness of his specific offense had an effect is laughable.

I've seen Cabrera at a lot of sports events when I'm in Atlanta. I swear I've seen him about half the games I've attended. I think he actually likes the student athletes, the activity on campus with games going on, etc. He does seem more of a Euro minor sports type guy though. I'm not sure he gets US sports, in particular football's relative importance in the grand scheme of things. Over there everybody goes to futbol games to watch guys flop on the ground if their jersey gets touched and the refs come running to the scene of the crime issuing a "penalty" in name only because there's not really any penalty. It's like watching Dook playing Dook in basketball with quadruple the flopping. Fans are lucky if in 90 mins there's 3-4 scores combined. He's definitely more interested than Peterson who basically did not give a öööö about sports at all.
