Mike Daniels resigns

The other thing, regrettably, might be something improper (either personal behavior or NCAA).

Death penalty for GT football, inbound.

Let’s not get crazy.
Honestly, what ncaa rules are left at this point? NIL has rendered any of those normal paying player rules moot. Academic issues? The RB coach wouldn’t have much to do with that.
I would guess he was brought in by the former coach, wasn’t jiving with Key and or Long, realized he’ll likely be job hunting soon anyway, and went ahead and took his exit. We’ve had a couple players do that, a position coach doesn’t surprise me.

Perhaps he just decided the uncertainty going forward warranted a job search and found a good enough landing spot. Every coach is an interim coach at this point.
Strange to do at this point in season. You can look for a job while you have one.

I think quitting looks bad for the next job but I’m sure he has an explanation

oh well, now come back home

The RBs really haven't looked good, but I'd still be surprised by this.
We may never know the full story here but it sounds to me like something happened where there was no choice but to fire him/for him to resign. I doubt Key wanted to upset the staff in the middle of the season anymore than it already has been, and if he was resigning on his own, he wouldn't have been out on the road recruiting yesterday.

I think a lot of people here are making this more dramatic than it is.

If he has another job offer at a school with a coach that's in no danger of being fired at the end of the season, it'd be weird not to take it. If I'm worried that my job might not exist at the end of the year, I'd be looking for something new. It'd be stupid not to.

Bouncing like that midseason is bizarre, man. This isn't like end of season and staff re-shullfing during bowl season type stuff. Doing that Week 5 or whatever of the season is weird.

What other schools currently have openings for a RB coach?
