....... Neither O’Leary nor Gailey ever beat Bowden once - we are now in an era where both of our biggest rivals are that type of program. Over his entire tenure, CPJ beat Clemson/UGA both 8 times. If I told you that we could have 8 wins over Clemson/UGA over the next decade, would you take it?

O'Leary nor Gailey never beat Richt once either while they were here, yet now the CGC excuse makers hate CPJ who beat both Richt and Bowden.

I don't think most here who miss the option, actually miss the option as much as they miss a well coached offense. When the option worked well it was because it was well coached; when the Friedgen offense worked it was because it was well coached. It isn't like we had a bunch of future NFL hall of famers in 1990, 1998, 2009, or 2014 on offense; they all had good talent; but were well coached. When the CPJ offense had a bad first quarter we watched expecting CPJ to make an adjustment later in the game; when the CGC offense has a bad first few series we simple resign ourselves to a bad day.

I don't know a single person who hates CPJ. The reality is he was never going to be competitive against elite teams as evidenced by Clemson and Georgia.

CPJ scored 7 offensive points in non-garbage time against Smart in 17/18. 1 touchdown in two games. We scored as many points on special teams as we did on offense during that period. He was never going to compete against Smart again. He scored 21 offensive points in 17/18 against Venables. Same offensive shutdown. The only NFL draft pick he had during that time was a kicker. Just accept what we became under CPJ. We were on his twilight. What we had was good but it was over. The good days were in the rear view mirror.

I have lack of faith that we will beat UGA or Clemson in the next 5 years. It doesn't help that Dabo seems to dislike Collins and feels intent on sticking his foot up his ass.

The perception that Dabo "hates" Collins is because Dabo knows Collins is beginning to compete with Dabo for players on the recruiting trail that CPJ had no prayer of bringing to GT.

I love the option. I hate that the rules changed to stop the option from being devastating because coaches felt it was “unsafe”. Really it was just that coaches were lazy. They didn’t want to have to prepare for it. They want all the teams running the same crap and just make it an arms race.

while we may not need the option I do believe we need an identity that is different than those around us. I’m not sure why we couldn’t adopt a Wisconsin-style model for offense and defense. I wouldn’t mind watching a team like that every week.

I like watching well executed offense of other styles too though. Hopefully we can get there at some point in the near future

The option like how Joe Hamilton ran it seems like something I would love to see. But it also takes great coaching

Yeah, I think it’s just business. Dabo white knighting or protecting Johnson’s honor just seems weird.

I think he was buddies with CPJ being CPJ was not a recruiting threat. Now, Dabo has to worry about UGAg, Auburn, Alabama, AND GT in metro Atlanta (the main players)

I think this is somewhat delusional. I don't know what recruits we've stolen from Clemson; but it must be in the single digits. I think Dabo is far more concerned about losing recruits to a half dozen SEC schools than CGC.

I guess we'll see how well this post ages this week.

It's not that we are stealing recruits from Clemson at this point. It's just the fact that we are in the game at all, recruiting wise. Collins also talks a big game, so I think Dabo is trying to nip that in the bud before we can get rolling.

Had we stayed the course with a pro style offense, I suspect we would have gotten more Calvin Johnson and Demaryous Thomas type WR's. We had Renfree coming in at QB. We had a few big TE's. Dwyer at RB....we can recruit at a high level for a pro style offense. Would we have competed for Lawrence from Cartersville at QB? Justin Fields? Maybe. We managed to get Calvin Johnson running a pro offense

I do miss it a little. When it was working it was a thing of beauty. Seeing opponents gassed and giving up first down after first down knowing there was nothing they could do to stop it. Totally demoralizing.

But when it wasn’t working it was painful to watch. It was time for a change.

I miss this:

I’ve watched that play a thousand times. It’s amazing. I love PJ’s offense and often wonder how we’d be doing if he had support from the athletic department. I see Yates and Mason now and know all we’d need is one Shaq and we’d be competing for the ACC Championship.

But PJ ain’t here no more. I’m hoping Geoff gets us where we wanna go.

another stupid argument.

Florida State was Bama when O’Leary faced them. Bowden was basically senile and FSU was NC State when Johnson did.

UGA and Richt were elite in the early 2000s when Gailey faced them. Post 07 Richt was basically Donnan.

That is the Tech Way.

See Cremins, Bobby.
