Next year it'll be Tahj Boyd emulating Dantzler at BDS!!!
Some posters have said that this year is make or break for PJ now. Some have said this is the nail in the coffin for him if Roof doesn't deliver. I don't think that is the case. Based on the reaction of all the former athletes on this board, and someone mention that Taz was thrilled with the hire it would seem that PJ made a very strategic hire in Roof. This hire might upset a large majority of the fan base but it seems to make a lot of the big wigs happy by hiring a Tech man with strong connections.
If PJ let's Roof alone to handle the defense, it will make Taz and other big money donors happy. If it works out, then great, everyone is happy. If Roof fails, the big money donors won't want to fire Roof (and by extension PJ) after just one season. The majority of the fan base may be upset but the influential boosters will most likely be more lenient with Roof. It potentially buys PJ two seasons to turn things around.
You realize theres an auto-ban for mentioning that name or that game?
Those who loved the need to score every time to keep ahead of the opposition's scoring are going to love Ted Roof as DC.
Check the 1999 stats, emphasis on opposition's scores at: http://www.ramblinwreck.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/101099aac.html
Sure we beat uga, but it took:
A. 51 points to their 48 at BDS@HGF.
B. uga's Jasper Sanks fumbling just before going into North End Zone for game winning TD with just seconds left.
Very disappointed in this "retread" hire. :turbonoes:
Logically, an objective analysis should do the opposite in weighting recent results versus older results. The older the result; the less it should matter in you analysis.
While I recognize--don't understand but recognize--that some people apparently think what GT did in Roof's 1st year as DC at Tech is more significant than what he did his next two or what he did 13 years later, last year at Penn State.
However, for those who want to know Roof's philosophy, there's a nice article about Butler who says he shares Roof's philosophy and talks about some of the things they did last year:

Paul has 2 years to produce, I know that for a fact. Ted was brought here not only to coach but for recruiting purposes. Remember this as well, we will be getting a new AD shortly and that will let us know how long Paul's tenure will be if we don't get back and win the ACCC in the next two years. I think we can if we can shore up the DT's. I look forward to watching from afar since I will be in Charleston the next few years.
I believe CPJ has 2 more years regardless of who he hired, simply because of his contract. However, now that Roof is here, and recruiting is a major part of the equation, isn't 2 years unfair to Roof? He only has 3 weeks before NSD 2013, so we are basically expecting him to turn it around with one recruiting class. Or would the expectation be that if he lands some 4* players for 2014, more time is given based on potential?
Who, pray tell, is "the AD that a lot of us are hoping for..."?

I think a lot of people are angling for the UCF AD. Apparently was well-liked during the GOL years or something.
Roof said the opportunity at Georgia Tech only surfaced about two days ago.
