ND boards.....

VT does that. Nobody else does that, because they don't want to waste two weeks of camp.

The one thing VT did to stop the option was to have multiple players beat blocks. The plan is basically just 5* defensive tacklers beating 2* offensive blockers. CPJ's offensive is fundamentally just have more options than unblocked tacklers, which doesn't work when guys break blocks.

ND has plenty of those 5* guys on defense.

This thread got pretty awesome today. Beej actually blueprinted us, and somebody on the ND board suggested a defense of the 3-O where you keep two deep safeties and assign two guys to the pitch. On every play. I mean. I'm.

There are no words.

VT does a lot more than that. They did that plenty to be sure, but often they beat blocks because they spent a lot of time studying our snap timings and confusing our QB and linemen. They've thrown more different stuff at us than any other defense I can recall. We also aren't a bunch of 2* blockers anymore either (possibly part of why we beat them last year).

Remember 2009 when VPI brought in Miss Cleo's mentally-challenged bastard son? Heartwarming story, I hope he gets his contract settled with the Seahawks soon.

Do you think Notre Dame has them because they are 5*, or that they are 5* because Notre Dame recruited them?

I'm not sure I've ever seen a retired drag queen. Maybe our catholic friends can enlighten us.

I'm picturing a mansion in Rome where a bunch of old men in pink dresses walk around carrying out the dictates of an older man in a white dress who makes sure that his underlings are free to prey upon innocent children.

Justin would win the Heisman from his stats in this one game alone.

"Let's leave the wideouts completely uncovered!"

"What's a counter-option?"

If they give us the QB keep, JT is not going to just get 3-7 yards. He's going to take it to the house. :rotfl:

Slow ... clap ....

(Now I gotta sneak out before DCSS sees me ...)

To me you need penetration and you need to slam the QB every play and quickly.

I agree, but I have never heard it referred to as the "QB" before.

You kids.

Ummm, yeah. You realize that there are thousands of Catholic Tech Alumni and students, right?

There is not one single thing you can do to stop the offense. If there were, everyone would do it.

I think a good strategy in general to defend the offense is to be unpredictable. PJ and staff is great at identifying and exploiting tendencies during the game. So, try to jump the snap every now and then, or try to guess the play. Maybe give the illusion of a tendency (fire corner two plays in a row, then don't). If you can disrupt, you can get a turnover, or put us in 2nd or 3rd and 15 and have a chance. VT defense is good at this.
