New ACC 2024-2030 Schedule Release Tonight

JBatt made a great move dumping Clemson. The playoffs will expand past 12 within the next 8 years once the 12 team format brings in the viewership and the millions. JBatt knows the old days are over. It’s almost like many of you like losing games. After what we’ve been through your darn right I’ll gladly take a win over South Carolina State or a Sunbelt team over a loss to Clemson every Saturday. Once the playoffs expand again any team with 9 wins will get in and that is where the future money and recruiting will come from. JBatt knows that scheduling is like the OLine in that they never get the highlights but are the determining factor in many seasons. Bama and UGA both schedule to win and survive. It sounds like many GT fans would rather schedule to be .500 but beat their chest that we are a great 6-6 team. I’d rather go 8-4 or 9-3 and make the playoffs.

Lol.

Yeah, JBatt is totally playing 4D chess for a decade down the road. GTFOH, we got hosed. Compelling matchups are what drives interest. Nobody cares about an 8-4 GT team playing BC or SMU at noon.

I've been to lots of South Carolina State and Middle Tennessee State and Mercer and Citadel games. At best the stadium is half empty and lackluster, at worst those games are as losable as any others. Wtf.

Also I like how suddenly we're making up scenarios about making playoffs with an 8-4 team that has played scrubs. Some of you all are infected with the Collins mind virus.

Bama and UGA's schedule is riddled with compelling meaningful games every year (including GT!) Making that comparison is absolutely just laughable.

I'm still trying to decide which of these 3 are killing college football more,
NIL
Transfer Portal
Conference Expansion

Takeaway after 7 pages:

Many fans go to home games to watch the other team.
No, it’s about both teams.

Last week’s GT-UNC game got prime time billing because of what happened THE PREVIOUS YEAR. It was a revenge game, and we’ll have fewer and fewer of those in years to come. A rematch three or four years later isn’t the same.

How amped were our players for BC? Expect more of that with the new ACC scheduling.

Why did it take this thread to understand that. All you have to do is look at attendance figures, even with teams that don't particularly travel well to BDS. Are you telling me the opponent wouldn't factor into your decision if you could only go to a limited number of games a year?

I'm a season ticket holder but I'm much more excited for games that are compelling. It sucks that our really relatively recent lack of success is causing bad takes like who you play doesn't matter, or is insignificant.

Who knows which games will be compelling a few years down the road? Louisville turned out to be pretty compelling this year.

Here's an idea - how about drop the FCS and G5 OOC games and play "compelling" teams to fill out the schedule? Bet no one would make that tradeoff to offset the "crappy" ACC matchups.

I like to see Tech win when I attend, but cause I don't get to see them very often. If I could only go to one game a year, I wouldn't pick the UGA game. Tech's lack of success is going on 10 years now. Get some 8-4 or better seasons under the belt, then worry about who Tech plays.

The problem wasn’t playing Clemson every year; the problem was playing Clemson and UGA every year plus a team like Ole Miss/ND. That started us at O-3 and behind many of our peers like Duke, Wake, NC State.

I’m hoping this allows us to continue to play a OOC top team now and then without it killing us.

But we've been doing better against good teams in big game atmospheres lately. We must leave the new super worthless Tech-hating ACC. "It just means less."
Dude people are gonna bitch regardless. Is our schedule amazing right now? I listen to y’all bitch about the schedule and uniforms every year and it’s not that different from any other year. Except 2024 is the toughest schedule we’ll have on paper. Then people will bitch about that too, say the schedule is too tough. It doesn’t matter. We will have a ranked opponent or two regardless. The goals are always the same. Make a bowl game, beat uga, make ACCCG, win ACCCG, win bowl game.

Exactly, we can play Clemson or FSU in the ACC championship game after beating up on the dregs of the acc while those dumbasses beat each other up

Over this stretch (24-30) we play:
Louisville and Wake 5 times
BC, Clem, Duke, SMU, Syr, and VT 4 times
Cal, FSU, duh-U, Pitt, Stanford, and UVA 3 times
UNC, NCST 2 times.

While I don't think any of this is very appealing, I would point out a couple of important things:
1) It's very hard to know who the best teams and matchups will be in any given year. Louisville and Duke are very good this year. Clemson isn't. Impossible to know who the "powerhouse" programs are going to be in 5 years. Hopefully Tech will be one of them. So I don't see much point in getting too excited or bummed out either way right now.
2) The closer we get to 2036 the less important any of this is going to be because this is a marriage with an inevitable divorce everyone can see coming. Sooner or later the conference members are going to change again and all of this will have to be reworked with or without Georgia Tech.

"Just win baby" and everything else takes care of itself.

“I’m excited about going to big games so everyone else must be.” Newsflash pal. People don’t go to big opponent games when their team sucks. Nobody wants to sit there and watch their team take a spanking week after week, except you. I thought you’d get that by now looking at 11K fans every game from your upper north ivory tower. Win 3-4 in a row and they will show up against even Syracuse.

Attendance figures…. Yes we get a lot of their fans so attendance goes up.

I think Batt has decided to continue the Benz games. We likely never see CU, FSU at GrantHyundaiDodd. But we do have flexibility to sneak in some games against Ohio State and Michigan, or Auburn and Tennessee if you prefer.
Where did you get that from? The only thing it does is it allows us to have a national TV moment if it’s the first game of the season.

Our team doesn't suck because we've been losing to big teams. Our team has sucked because we lose to öööö teams. Clown era did a number on y'all.

nobody said our team sucks because we play big teams. I didn’t anyway I don’t know why you’re putting words in my mouth to attempt to win. My stance is I don’t give a öööö about ACC opponents, they’re all the same. I don’t care if we play or don’t play Clemson every year but I see why J Batt accepted ACC proposal to not have permanent rivals. We didn’t get hosed at all and quit yer bitching. Go play in the uniform thread.
