Basically we got ööööed so that the Carolina schools could all play each other every year
Well if you wanna feel like you got ööööed then sure. I don’t judge people’s fetishes.Basically we got ööööed so that the Carolina schools could all play each other every year
Last time we were top 12 going into bowl season was 2009. We had beaten Clemson twice to get thereI am fine no fixed opponents. It gives us more variety, and some relief from the juggernaut of playing Clemson every year. It will make our path to a top-12 playoff finish easier.
Just win baybee!
really want jbatts explaination. by making scheduling easier for conference, we should get some kind of kick back for that. if not, missed opportunity by jbatt, and yes, would chap my ass some as well we forgo'ed any rivalries for nothing. other scenario, i picture jbatt kicked back in corner of meeting stogie in hand laughing at whole conference beating their heads against scheduling, knowing whole thing is getting blown up in a couple years and wont matter.I get Louisville not really having any rivals considering they are a relatively new add to the conference, but Tech, J Batt specifically, deciding that Tech has no in-conference rivals chaps my ass some. Clemson is the no-brainer but I can at least understand not wanting it as a permanent game. But why not UNC, FSU or VT? Any of those would have made sense. Instead we get some sort of hybrid rival of Louisville/Wake that almost no one cares about.
I'm still trying to decide which of these 3 are killing college football more,

Did Coit steal your log in credentials? This is his variety of contrarian blue sky BS.I go to every single home game. I will continue to go as long as I’m alive and well and live in Atlanta or a drivable distance away. I’m not gonna complain about the schedule while I see empty stands or opposing fans jerseys in the upper east even after big wins. Y’all start going to the games and Tech starts winning games at home and then we can all bitch about getting some bigger opponents at home. Then we can go schedule some SEC or Big10 opponents to come to BDS. Play Clemson or not I don’t give a öööö, just win games.

i disagree. i dont make it to many games, but when i do, even if we suck, i'm picking a probable loss to clem, fsu, um home game over probable win over cuse or BC. i have no interest in half the acc matchhups, and a unexpected win over a tough opponent trumps a loss or expected win over a lesser opponent. but yes, getting spanked week after week makes me less inclined to attend any game.“I’m excited about going to big games so everyone else must be.” Newsflash pal. People don’t go to big opponent games when their team sucks. Nobody wants to sit there and watch their team take a spanking week after week, except you. I thought you’d get that by now looking at 11K fans every game from your upper north ivory tower. Win 3-4 in a row and they will show up against even Syracuse.

The tradeoff is that it's easier to schedule the non-permanent games for the NC mafia to reasonably cycle through the rest of the conference if there aren't as many other pesky permanent games to work around. There was no need for a tradeoff. Clemson only had 1 permanent game and it wasn't with any of the Carolina schools. Could've added another. We could've had two ourselves if we wanted. But apparently we didn't care to have any.
And that’s fine. I completely get that but the majority of the fanbase will show up if we’re winning consistently regardless of whether we play Clemson or not. Most of our ACC opponents outside of FSU, Clemson and Miami are pretty much the same thing. We’re already playing uga every year, we’ll find some other big OOC opponent to play if we think the schedule is lacking.i disagree. i dont make it to many games, but when i do, even if we suck, i'm picking a probable loss to clem, fsu, um home game over probable win over cuse or BC. i have no interest in half the acc matchhups, and a unexpected win over a tough opponent trumps a loss or expected win over a lesser opponent. but yes, getting spanked week after week makes me less inclined to attend any game.

This. We can out-recruit everyone in the ACC except Clem, Miami, FSU, and UNC ( and I think we can catch the the tareholes)….great coaching and recruiting going forward will have us running roughshod over the rest of the accSure, it's possible. It's hard to know what the motivations are behind any of it.
Tech's struggles in recent years aren't because of the schedule. We've sucked.
IMHO, it looks like our schedule has gotten easier with this new arrangement but we won't know that until the games are played. Too many variables. The one thing Georgia Tech can control is getting better. Better talent, better coaching, better strength & conditioning, better NIL resources, better facilities, better fan support. Tech needs to focus on Tech regardless who is on the schedule.
Get better, win more games and the rest of it takes care of itself.
You know I don’t really care about not playing Clem every year but it chaps my A$$ that UNC wants to leave the very freaking league that they started and own and yet still got everything they wanted it’s bull$öööö, I hate the acc and tobacco rd mafia SO much.Everybody has reasonable arguments on both sides of this subject. Except for one thing. The ACC is supposed to be a league. That means all schools should be treated equally. That means the N.C. schools should not get three permanent rivals when we have none. That is not the way you treat people in a league. The ACC was already so weak that games against teams people cared about were very rare. Now, they're almost non-existent. If we wanted an easier schedule, maybe we shouldn't have scheduled non-conference games at Ole Miss and stuff like that. I get it that everybody else in the ACC wanted games for their programs that helped them get their fans to buy tickets and contribute money. I bet the ACC got NC State's vote to add Stanford, Cal and SMU by promising them the four NC teams could play each other every year. But, why didn't our AD demand fairness for Tech? NC, Ckemson and FSU went against the ACC and got rewarded. We supported the ACC and got screwed. Batt should have to explain this. This is disrespectful to Tech. I hope we get out of the All Crap Conference ASAP. We'd be better off in the Big 12. They treat their members equally and have better teams than the weak ACC/Big East teams we'll be playing under this totally unfair plan. The ACC is not even pretending it's fair. They just said, "Ga. Tech said it didn't mind getting screwed. Ga. Tech is fine with not being treated fairly."
Ok öööö it, you convinced me. Who’s driving to Charlotte with me to start a riot? @KrazieJacket where are you?Everybody has reasonable arguments on both sides of this subject. Except for one thing.
