Don't blame them. We upped the ante with new Buzz.No surprise. They were ducking out of the way of our OL on Saturday night.

And we wouldnt have gotten any of the teams you listed anyway, they all already have two. I'm betting we could have had Clemson and decided against it. In the end it's 3 games over 7 years we weren't getting anything else, not sure why anyone is bitching that much.To have a protected rival I would assume requires the cooperation of the 2 AD's from each school. It is probable that neither Clemson or FSU wanted us as an annual rival. If neither FSU or Clemson wanted to play us annually there isn't much left for Batt to choose from. Anyone itching to play VT or Miami every year? Maybe SMU or Stanford?

Looks more to me we didn't want to be tied to anyone. I don't get everyone thinking Clemson is somehow our butt buddy or somethingI think it’s pretty clear that we asked out of Clemson.
My gut feel is that Tech agreed to this as a condition of bringing in the latest three teams.
But I want to believe that we negotiated three night home games per season!
Pretty sure we got what we wanted; no way we had bargaining power for bailing out of the Clemson game.I’m kinda upset, but will be furious if our AD didn’t get ANYTHING from the ACC for saying we don’t want a protected rival.
Because regional rivals are fun games and what help make college football appealing. The Clemson games were some of the best games I recall on campus. Not having a yearly rivalry game within our own conference is bizarre. Especially given we have teams who we have played nearly 100 times and are close in proximity.Looks more to me we didn't want to be tied to anyone. Swingers in Mayberry? We’ve got to nip it in the bud. Nip it, nip it, nip it.Every time we went to a Tech game in NC or Va, we would get off the interstate at the Mount Airy exit and spend some time in the real Mayberry. One time, while we were in "Mayberry," we bumped into the people who had seats right in front of us in the upper West Stands at Grant Field. We all went to The Snappy Lunch and had pork chop sandwiches. It was a nice way to break up the trip.

Yeah honestly they don’t really care that much. Shame really.Looks more to me we didn't want to be tied to anyone. I don't get everyone thinking Clemson is somehow our butt buddy or something
this. can't say i'm mad, unless we got nothing in return for helping conference. but just feels weird. as others mentioned, we're now basically in a protected rivalry with loserville since they are more recent addition with no historic rivals. why we in a conference with no rivals? if not clemson, at the least keep duke just due to history. really hope jbatt got something in works. at this point, see no reason not to just go independent again and start getting more regional auburn and the likes back on schedule. could play a yearly 13th game with ND for independents championship.Because regional rivals are fun games and what help make college football appealing. You have to think big picture. Yes, we lost a sellout crowd game, a massive TV ratings game, a historical rivalry game. But we’ve got an easier schedule now. And besides, we’ll still get to play them sometimes. Does all of that sound familiar? BINGO. It’s exactly the same thing that happened when we left the SEC. Think about the massive success we’ve had since then, and all the wins we racked up going to an easier schedule. Yeah. Duke wasn't going to happen, they would always chose the NC schools first and aren't going to go for 4 "protected rivals".this. can't say i'm mad, unless we got nothing in return for helping conference. but just feels weird. as others mentioned, we're now basically in a protected rivalry with loserville since they are more recent addition with no historic rivals. why we in a conference with no rivals? if not clemson, at the least keep duke just due to history. really hope jbatt got something in works. at this point, see no reason not to just go independent again and start getting more regional auburn and the likes back on schedule. could play a yearly 13th game with ND for independents championship.
