New ACC 2024-2030 Schedule Release Tonight

Given the Tar Heels hard luck against Tech during recent years, is it possible they're dodging the Jackets? I'm not even kidding.
Kind of. Securing UVA, NC State, and Duke as 3/8 of their schedule every year ensures they will have a softer schedule on average, it minimizes their plane travel, and means they only play Clemson, FSU, Miami, GT, VT, Lou about 3 times a decade.

It’s amazing how our conference bows down to them; and more amazing that they’ve never won Dick given all of their advantages and favoritism.

I get Louisville not really having any rivals considering they are a relatively new add to the conference, but Tech, J Batt specifically, deciding that Tech has no in-conference rivals chaps my ass some. Clemson is the no-brainer but I can at least understand not wanting it as a permanent game. But why not UNC, FSU or VT? Any of those would have made sense. Instead we get some sort of hybrid rival of Louisville/Wake that almost no one cares about.
öööö Clemson. Clemson was always a poor man's substitute for Auburn or Tennessee, both preferable to Clemson.

My thoughts, I just want to win and right now, GT seems to win games it shouldn't and lose games it shouldn't. So, I don't care who the opponent is. Just win.

Another thought, Stanford got ööööed.

I agree with all of that, but....the drive to Louisville is only an hour more than Winston Salem.

I’ve done Wake and back in a day before, wouldn’t really want to do that with Louisville. Plus I have a friend in Charlotte that helps break up the drive to games in that part of the world.

Plus I just don’t like going to Louisville’s stadium, which is just sort of dropped down in the middle of nowhere in a sketchy area.

Every time we went to a Tech game in NC or Va, we would get off the interstate at the Mount Airy exit and spend some time in the real Mayberry. One time, while we were in "Mayberry," we bumped into the people who had seats right in front of us in the upper West Stands at Grant Field. We all went to The Snappy Lunch and had pork chop sandwiches. It was a nice way to break up the trip.

I wonder if we forewent any “protected matchups” in the new schedule because a) some of the teams we might want to match with put us at a competitive disadvantage (Clemson, FSU) or b) nobody else wanted to match with us (hints of that the last time we redid the schedule).

We stopped there in 2000 on our way up to Blacksburg for the VPI lightning game. I bought a Pink Floyd shirt that did not feature the band.

I think I have the least interest in Louisville of any ACC team as an opponent or travel destination, so of course we play them 5 out of 7 years. Seems like we kept the worst of the current arrangement (Louisville and Wake, almost every year). At least Wake is an easy trip from Atlanta.

Because we have no "protected matchups", we have the most openings to play the other team with no "protected matchups" (Louisville). So basically, Louisville is our "silent protected matchup" by default...

Lol. Clemson won’t use the portal. That’s why they have fallen off.
What reason before this year did Dabo have to change his Portal philosophy? And you think Dabo is just going to continue to ignore it and not use it? They can rebuild in a hurry. Saban used it more last year. Guarantee you Dabo will do the same.

Again for as much as some of you celebrate programs going into downturns (which doesn’t help the ACC), 1 year in 13 is a blip on the radar until proven otherwise.

Everybody has reasonable arguments on both sides of this subject. Except for one thing. The ACC is supposed to be a league. That means all schools should be treated equally. That means the N.C. schools should not get three permanent rivals when we have none. That is not the way you treat people in a league. The ACC was already so weak that games against teams people cared about were very rare. Now, they're almost non-existent. If we wanted an easier schedule, maybe we shouldn't have scheduled non-conference games at Ole Miss and stuff like that. I get it that everybody else in the ACC wanted games for their programs that helped them get their fans to buy tickets and contribute money. I bet the ACC got NC State's vote to add Stanford, Cal and SMU by promising them the four NC teams could play each other every year. But, why didn't our AD demand fairness for Tech? NC, Ckemson and FSU went against the ACC and got rewarded. We supported the ACC and got screwed. Batt should have to explain this. This is disrespectful to Tech. I hope we get out of the All Crap Conference ASAP. We'd be better off in the Big 12. They treat their members equally and have better teams than the weak ACC/Big East teams we'll be playing under this totally unfair plan. The ACC is not even pretending it's fair. They just said, "Ga. Tech said it didn't mind getting screwed. Ga. Tech is fine with not being treated fairly."
You are kidding yourself if you think Batt is going to explain this to Tech fans. Batt has his eyes on a bigger prize, and its in Chapel Hill. He isnt going to take a chance pissing off the Mafia.

You know I don’t really care about not playing Clem every year but it chaps my A$$ that UNC wants to leave the very freaking league that they started and own and yet still got everything they wanted it’s bull$öööö, I hate the acc and tobacco rd mafia SO much.
Wait. So the logic here is that UNC, Duke, Wake, NCSU (4 votes) overrides 13 others? Do some of you want to make things up in your heads just to get mad? Hell, take out SMU, Cal and Stanford and the OTHER schools still have more votes (10) on how to run things.

The schedule for GT most years got easier at a time when they need it the most, and people are complaining Clemson is no longer the perm rival. Then want to turn around and complain about how hard the schedule is when ND, Ole Miss, FSU, etc are on the rotation to go along with Clemson, uga.

I’m not celebrating their demise, just stating facts. He hasn’t taken transfers while the other power schools fill holes with veteran studs. Clemson has never taken transfers under Dabo. It was less of an issue when transfers were restricted, but is hurting them now as they play with second tier QBs and three little white peckers at WR.
