Next AD?

Bill was/is a great guy & had no problems getting great assistants.... future HFCs like Steve Sloan & Rex Dockery, plus keeping Dick Bestwick and Jerry Glanville among others, were great recruiters as well as coaches.

Bill had been an assistant under Carson in 1969, then got the HFC job & was successful at what was then U. of Tampa in 1970 & 1971. When Carson got fired after the 1971 Peach Bowl fiasco vs Ole Miss, Fulcher was a very popular choice among the players for the job.

But it was 1972 and a lot of things totally unrelated to FB, GT, or FB at GT were swirling around. 1973 was no better.... Fulcher's departure is briefly addressed on p46 of Kim King's "Tales from the Georgia Tech Sideline."

Next time you see Bill, tell him hi from DeepSnap though he won't remember the walk-on from Dalton. Also, a few years back at a Kiwanis pancake day at a local HS, I ran into Bill freshman roommate, a former mayor of Decatur, AL, who said to say hi.
Since seeing him back in the Spring of this year was the first time I had seen him in 3 or 4 years, I doubt that our paths will cross again anytime soon, but I will definitely mention both you and his freshman roommate. If you are ok with doing so, PM me your name so I will have a better reference for you than your ST moniker. Unless you were widely known as DeepSnap back then, I doubt that would mean anything to him.

Nah man. The next AD needs to have a clear understanding of simple things like coaches communicating upcoming timeouts with line judges to minimize dumb mistakes line judges sometimes make.

And your gay fantasy displayed in your handle....you can't prevent speaking to them any more than you can stop having them. Eww

I'm your big daddy now.

Excuse me ref, I have three timeouts I am taking in the second half. Can you make sure they are called appropriately? Despite the fact I make millions a season, I can't take any personal responsibility for such things.

LOL thanks for doubling down on your stupid again. It's almost as good as the classic joke that never gets old. Makes me laugh every time.

I'm not sure Tech can hire anyone that is worth a damn once they find out how little money Tech is willing to spend to be competitive. Same problem we will have finding the next HC.

I would like to see Tech communicate with some people like Steve Spurrier. Not only does Spurrier know a decent amount about Tech from his Time at Tech, he also has a wealth of knowledge about competing at the highest levels and the competition Tech faces on and off the field. I think he could definitely provide valuable direction for any search committees and I'd pay him for that advise. He also hates the mutts, another pro.

Spurrier is 77 years old and has done nothing in at least 7 years.

Good God you are a stupid SOB

A NON-TECH MAN !!!!
I typically don’t post on anything other than Tech history threads, but wanted to throw out a name that would be an excellent hire;
Jeff Purinton. He is currently AD at Arkansas State, recently hired from Alabama Athletic Department.
Jeff was at FSU for a number of years, and was hired by Nick Saban as his go to guy back in 2008. He was very instrumental in the launching of the Saban era as a go between with the boosters, media and Athletic Department. He had a number of other major accomplishments as well. Many were surprised when FSU didn’t hire him.
Although GT and Bama are obviously not carbon copy situations, he is an articulate, well respected guy who truly knows the blueprint for success.

I don't think he was saying to hire Spurrier as coach but rather to put him on the search committee. And if he was willing to do that it would certainly make sense -- guy has a plenty of clout and connections. We certainly wouldn't be hurting our image or appeal if he was involved in the search process.

If he was saying to hire Spurrier as a coach, yeah, that doesn't make any sense.

Lol. Football has changed so much in 7 years that all of Spurrier’s experience and knowledge is moot. Hahahaha!

When you can figure out how calling time outs work, people might listen to you. But I’m pretty certain you’re incapable. :)

Good lord, spectrum boy, you are really butt hurt about time outs, aren't you?

And Spurrier is 77 years old and doesn't give a single öööö about GT. Yea, he coached here, before Bill Curry was hired. This belief that he has some special soft spot in his heart for GT and will ride into town to save us shows just how damn stupid you are.
