I seriously doubt a player offered by virtually every major school in the South plus Oklahoma is going to come to GT and walk-on for a year. I maybe wrong though.
If Finch is as good as advertised/hyped and really wanted to sign with GT, then PJ would bring him on. He's an A back and Perkins is clearly a B-Back.
The reason he isn't offered is that the staff doesn't think he's as good as Jordan Akins, who plays the exact same position as another one of our commits, Synjyn Days.

I don't think Finch's issue has anything to do with what the staff thinks of him as a player. It comes down to room in the class and depth at the position. We have a pile of A-backs currently, and a couple of Qb's who will be looking for a new position come the fall. A-back is probably the position of least need in this class.
As far as Jordan Akins is concerned I am not sure he has a committable offer at this time. I am aware that he has stated that he does but there may be some confusion there.
We are waiting on Martin as far as I know he is the only recruit with a commitable offer at this point. And if additional scholarships become available the order of priority for additional recruits will be Linebacker and DL.
I don't buy the argument that we aren't offering Finch because we are deep at A-back. Depth is irrelevant when you have an opportunity to bring in a blue chip recruit that has offers from myriad programs. Suppose we were deep at wide receiver back in 2004; using the aforementioned depth argument, we wouldn't have offered Calvin Johnson.
I don't know if this is true, but I heard on a blog that CPJ promised Perkins that he was only going to bring in one running back this recruiting year. Could this be why? Maybe not.
While I dont see CPJ ever pulling this move and making a promise like this, I think it still might be too earlier in his tenure for it maybe, could be wrong, but idk it could happen. One things for sure it looks like Perkins is well worth it if he did. This offense is about interchangable parts to some degree especially with the A-Backs so im sure depth is always wanted
AJC reported today that Jordan Akins got a UGA offer. I guess that means he's a 4 star recruit ;)
RB commit Charles Perkins had 2 TD's and ~100 yards in the first half tonight at Norcross. (I left at halftime to go out for dinner.)
He looked pretty shifty. Add 25 lbs of rock solid muscle on his frame and he will be a contributor at GT.
UGa was waiting to see if he was good enough to play at Tech before offering.Hopefully the fact that we were in early means something...

:laugher:
Maybe Kiffin should have flown up in his helicopter at BDS, since he's pathetically trying to recruit our commitments.Synjyn Days, Charles Perkins, Morgan Bailey, Shawn Green, Denzel Mccoy, Fred Holton and B.J. Bostic were all at the game.
