official 2009/ 2010 recruiting thread

Anybody able to shed any light on the T.J. Stripling revelation (without breaking the don't-post-premium-info rule)?
 
Or, if anyone wants to break the don't post rule and share with me over PM, I wouldnt mind hearing :)
 
I would also like to hear information that one may not wish to share here, over PM.

I am not an "insider" but from what I understand, Stripling grew up a Tech fan. Scout list him as a DE, which he would be a solid rush end, but he could also play OLB (after a RS and some college weight training)... a need for us. I was surprised when we didn't get on him early...figured it was academics. However, about a month or so ago there was rumors of mutual interest between he and Tech. I think that he may have even contacted the coaching staff to express his interest. I had even heard that he was going to attend the VPI game. I am not sure if he came or not but some Dawgs were complaining about a couple of their commits visiting other schools...actually they mentioned that PJ wouldn't put up with it and neither should Richt. This past weekend I heard that we offered but I didn't hear any follow up... figured it was probably conditional or something like that.

So apparently we have offered and there is mutual interest. Will be interesting to see how this develops.

I know that you are not allowed to give out too much but if any insider can at least give us a thumbs up or down regarding our position with T.J. it would be greatly appreciated.
 
TJ Stripling would be a dynamite pickup. He seems like Michael Johnson part 2. The guy is #34 on the rivals 100. We'd be getting a 3-4 year starter!

We are offering him now because a spot has came up. A player will most likely have to quit football due to injury. (its NOT Coop)

I would love to have him.

Geez, that doesn't sound good for someone on the team. Who would that be or at least what position? LBer, DT, CB, OL?
