official 2009/ 2010 recruiting thread

Gailey completely screwed the pooch with recruiting numbers..

hey dumb ass... we were on probation and got some ships taken away from us. it has nothing to do with Chan, but feel free to continue to throw him under the bus if it makes you sleep better at night.

Lets blame it all on the probation!!! :sad01:

I don't feel bad giving Chan a hard time since he did his damndest to leave Tech before we ever got rid of him. So how is he doing in the NFL these days?

UGA may be looking for a new head coach... and nobody wills the Dawgs to victory like CCG.

ok lets get back to recruiting thread even though Gailey at UGA would be so entertaining,
1. S. Days younger brother (i think) is he a lock to come here to or no?

2. I wanna know if James Vaughters from Tucker has a shot at coming here, hes got a good GPA according to some reports and he has an offer and medium interest, any chance?

I guess this defeats the reports that there are couple of 4-stars waiting for our offer after the VT game. If that was the case, we would have saved the spot for a higher rated recruit unless of course Akins is incredibly underrated or incredibly needed at his position. Regardless, whoever the coaches ends up with, I trust their judgment.

I believe he's just a junior.

A lot of people on the premium boards are thinking he has a baseball scholarship, not a football one.

Don't get caught up in the star rating crap. It's a farce! I put more faith the coaches evaluation.

If he plays football and baseball, it has to be a football scholarship.

Per NCAA rules, you can't hide football players on a baseball scholarship like Bear Bryant use to do with track & swimming back in the day.

He was quoted in an article saying GT was recruiting him for baseball. If he commits, he will not be able to play football until his 3rd season.

But could you bring them in under baseball, don't practice with the team (or play) and then put them on scholarship the following Fall (when we'll have more?)

It does not have to be a football scholarship. It can be a baseball scholarship, but would have to be a full baseball scholarship, which is less likely. If he was on a baseball scholarship, he would actually have to play baseball--which is really the Bear Bryant rule.

Not sure of all the rules involved... but a full baseball ride is unlikely. Baseball is only alloted ~12 scholarships for the entire squad. Many players only get 1/4 or 1/2 scholarship or something even lower like "books only."

I thought I read somewhere a few years ago that Tex was the only GT player to get a full baseball scholarship.
