official 2009/ 2010 recruiting thread

Hey, when did ESPN's recruiting turn into a complete carbon copy of rivals and scout? I mean I have to be an insider just to see our effing commits.....

It must have happened very recently because I read the ESPN "notes" (i.e. scouting reports) on all of our prospects in September. They've also blocked all of the info on the Southeast recruiting blog...

Quite honestly, though, I never thought the information on ESPN recruiting was as good as that found on Rivals.com...but I guess that's a matter of opinion.

I had assumed (from staying up to date on here) that the 2010 class was all but complete...however, in recent days, I've seen a couple of things that have piqued my interest

1) Welcome to the board!
2) Recruiting is NEVER over until signing day...NEVER
3) Johnson originally said around 12 guys, but we will be willing to take up to 15-16 if a few lingering "blue chips" want to come here
4) We will have a few extra schollies due to NFL
-D. Morgan is gone
-Dwyer is prob gone (90% IMHO)
-M. Burnett is 50/50
-Bebe is 50/50
5) We will have a few extra schollies due to attrition
-we lose 3-4 guys each year due to transfer, medical, or just quitting
6) Johnson will leave a few schollies open to get class balance and reward standout walk-ons.

I'm not an insider, but I do read what Dems says. He mentioned Roy Finch an OU committ came to the game. He is a 4 star RB from FL. Perhaps he is the back in question.

not according to this:

ROY FINCH, RB, 5’8, 175, 4.4, NICEVILLE, FLORIDA

“Yeah my commitment is still solid.
I still keep in touch with Coach (Cale) Gundy and Coach (Bob) Stoops a lot. I try to make sure I just keep in contact with them and communicate with them all the time.”

There are about 3-5 players who would commit on the spot if offered. These are 4* players too...

I wonder if people are actually nice there.

Doubtful. Town names tend to be ironic.

Gtland03, are these players wanted by the coaches? If they're willing to commit so quickly, I don't why the staff hasn't offered.

Gailey completely screwed the pooch with recruiting numbers..

If GT had a normal class of 22-25 this year, it would probably beat the '07 class. Not even kidding.

Yeah, it was Gailey - probation had nothing to do with it.

Things are going really good for GT football on all fronts - some of it Gailey is responsible for (Nesbitt, Morgan, Burnett, BayBay, JD, Roddy to name a few). Is it possible to stop taking unnecessary shots?

Possible....yea. Probable....not likely. :)

If I was going to sign up for the good stuff on a recruiting website, which one should I chose?

Rivals without a doubt. thats the website i use and its awesome. pratice updates everyday along with constant recruiting updates.

GTland03 works at Jacketsonline.

Sounds like CPJ should go Nick Saban and get some attrition out of our non-contributing uppperclassmen.
