Let him play. He’s got a spark right now. I don’t want to burn it but our former coach didn’t handle the QB position well so here we are. Let him show up.
Personnel player decisions are made by the coach. I’m sorry to say that the Monday after Thanksgiving our player decisions will be over and Batt will have to make the decision as to who the next football coach will be. When he makes that decision, the new coach will then be making player decisions. So please tell me who will be in charge of the football program on the Monday after Thanksgiving when every coach has been let go? The school Prez and AD at a school like GT are in charge way more than any coach. It’s why we have all heard Pastner and Collins suck up to them at every opportunity. I’d love to see a day where the football coach is so powerful (because of wins) that he has the power. Right now, any football coach at GT has less power than the volleyball coach. We are a few weeks away from a new era.
Well then Batt should just name himself coach an hour before the UGA game and sit Pyron.Personnel player decisions are made by the coach. We may have another decent QB yes. Think Hooker at TN is thankful for his redshirt year now? What about Pickett at Pitt last year? Let's waste a year of his eligibility by one game playing for a crap team. Great idea champion. So we'll never have another decent QB? This thinking makes no sense. 3 or 4 years should be enough for any one starter. Next man up. Maybe even next better man.
One where rational decision making is valued over emotional decision making. What a stupid ööööing thread. Yeah go ahead and sit a hot and confident qb in the portal era. Phenomenal idea. Even better yet: play him and then sit him against ugag. Let's see how that goes over. In what world do some of you live?
The NCAA should change the rules so that bowl games don't count against one of the 4Who you starting in the Bowl in your scnario?
If we beat Miami and UNC with him as a starter, we better use him against UGAg. We should absolutely throw everything we have at the mutts.I’d use him through rest of the ACC schedule. Hopefully we can win against Miami to make that UNC game meaningful as far as bowl contention. A UGA win ain’t happening… so I’d preserve his shirt rather than throwing him out there for that.
You don’t say that you say: Sims has looked much more mobile in practice and our starting QB is ready to return. If Pyron starts and plays well for the next two games, I'm not sure how you could ask anyone to suit up for the U[sic]GA game after saying you are holding him out since you know you're going to lose anyway. Sounds like a good way to lose the locker room and destroy any progress we've made in terms of building a winning culture in one fell swoop.

Absolutely no good head coach will want to come under an AD that inserted himself into the management of redshirts. To even suggest such is asinine.Well then Batt should just name himself coach an hour before the UGA game and sit Pyron.
Do you really believe the AD (and an engaged school President who hand selected the AD) who will still be employed the Monday after Thanksgiving with the responsibility to lure a coach to GT will let his subordinate make a future decision regarding our future QB prior to being fired? That is bizarro thinking. So if Key wanted to forfeit the game or play Shanahan at QB or punt on 1st down you don’t think the AD would step in?
Agree. And I think the odds of finding another equally good QB that can take over in 2-3 years are good. Ride Pyron till he breaks downBurn the shirt. There’s no guarantee any player stays 4 years even if they’re starting. If he’s the best QB we have, let him play.
Well, that’s not true, but a player in Zach’s position certainly won’t want to be redshirted…nor should he be.Players never want to be redshirted
I will meet you halfway. If he beats both Miami and UNC, then he is the starter and should start versus against both UGA and in the bowl game. However, if we lose one of the next two then a bowl game ain’t happening. I would rather have the POTENTIAL for a full RS SR season versus one more game this year.If we beat Miami and UNC with him as a starter, we better use him against UGAg. We should absolutely throw everything we have at the mutts.
