Official First Garbage Football / Season Kickoff Thread

What good is a proper story when yours is a horror? If a tech has no place in this story I’m out. It looks like that’s increasingly the case. You disregard this?

I'm reminded of a 3 volume biography of Winston Churchill that IIRC @Essobee convinced me to read, under the title "The Last Lion". The second volume of this 3,000 page work is subtitled, simply, "Alone". It's about a very long dark stretch of Churchill's life and the national life of England where everything just got lonelier and darker as the Nazi threat grew stronger and the allied will weaker until it was, on paper, far too late.

The story ends in one of the most triumphant moments in human history, though, and it couldn't do that unless it had gone through such tremendous darkness. I gotta look at what Tech is going through as something like that. It's a long dark haul from here, possibly, but the story isn't over.

Some of us were college football fans MANY years before we even selected a college to attend. I became a fan nine years before I even applied to college. Attended many Orange Bowl games in person before I ever even thought about Georgia Tech. And if I had gone somewhere else (e.g., MIT) I doubt I would GAF about Georgia Tech football. But I still would have enjoyed watching college football games anyway. I can enjoy watching any good game whether I care about the two teams or not.

not gonna lie. My enthusiasm for football sank like a Minnesota boat last night. I’m not sure I can find joy in it without Tech being safe among the worthy. It hurts. Enjoy that game!
I’m here. And jealous of the atmosphere at FSU.

What a nice thought. I love that. I’m so indoctrinated that my Tech love can never go away. The only think that can go away now is my sadness and desperation from this season of life in football. Great answer btw. You’re the only one really worth asking that on here. Go Jackets and I hope that we can one day again look at a possible 2014

"The sad truth is that man's real life consists of a complex of inexorable opposites - day and night, birth and death, happiness and misery, good and evil. We are not even sure that one will prevail against the other, that good will overcome evil, or joy defeat pain. Life is a battleground. It always has been and always will be; and if it were not so, existence would come to an end." - Carl Jung

I never went to any of the schools that have a team and love football. My family connection to tech gave me skin in the game. And it was great. If tech cancels their program I’ll cheer for Georgia to lose. Believe it or not, besides fandom I truly believe they deserve misery and loss.

Seriously. You ööööing people are the worst. Tech or die. And you fucks want to sit around and watch other college teams? If Tech isn’t involved college football is over.

It’s fucks like you why the SEC survives outside of the rest of the country. Y’all can’t help but to tune in your TVs.

He can cheer for both, you don't gatekeep fandom
I’m not even really cheering for them. Just watching a pretty good football game and being nostalgic for days in both the Gailey and Johnson years where we had some pretty damned good home game atmospheres like All They Way Turnt Up night and Miracle on Techwood night.
