Official Geoff Collins Fired Watch Party Thread

Thanks for linking this.

So, since this year is prorated and he has basically 3 months left, if we fired him now we would owe him approximately $11.3 million. If we wait until January 1st, we owe him $7.2 million.

At this point, the cost of firing him now is $4.1 million.

So at the end of last season, when by all accounts we had the money to fire him, TStan chose to keep him for another year knowing that to save money he couldn't fire him until January 1, 2023.

By January 1 we will have lost the recruiting class and most open head coaches positions have been filled.

We will be left with scraps.

That decision not to fire, knowing the timelines involved, is a fireable offense. Forget the other öööö.

Word on the street is Todd and Collins are both gone but we are going to need to secure a loan for the initial chunk. Todd has essentially gone into hiding. He obviously won’t fire Collins since he is tied to him. So either this Sunday or the next. But yes he’s coached his last game at Bobby Dodd. This scenario still pisses me off.
Tell us more about this word on the street.

If I read the contract correctly, it is to be paid in equal monthly installments over the remaining life of the contract. What am I missing that we would need to take a loan out?

Probably to pay him a lump sum that is less than the contractual obligation.

Or, and hear me out on this, he shows his face for Duke game, and I take one of WYSB’s tickets to sit behind him and pelt him with waffles.
Let's pony up and rent a plane to fly over BDS w some choice words w TurdStan 1st, Clown right behind..

Also, the new assistants are on 2 year deals. Hopefully, Collins is amenable to some of his buyout going toward theirs.

What is his incentive to do that? He’s never getting a HC job again. There’s no way he’s cutting his golden parachute.

Another one of those things that was hinted at but I don't think was confirmed

The contract is ridiculous from the schools point of view. Why make all of these concessions? It’s like TStan thought he was hiring a guy who had half-a-dozen other offers on the table.

Even the AD (like the sports media) fell for the sham of “greatest transition of all time” and felt he had to. In hindsight… what an idiot

No reason we have to wait till 1/1 to search and find our next head coach, even if we wait till then to fire collins
