Official Spring Game Thread

Drove down there with my wife. Parked in Klaus, about a mile away. Walked by the gay frat party (this is a thing? I'm so old)

I didn't notice a gay frat party, but there was one frat house with a rainbow flag in one of the windows, and there was a BIG rainbow flag on some large building on the other side of the baseball field. Boy, times sure have changed at Tech.

A flag isn't a "gay frat party." It was likely connected to this going on:

A lot of controversy around the swimming championships taking place at GT.

Reminds me of a Miami noon kickoff a few years back. I had left my hat in the truck and could feel my bald head burning by the 2Q in my 222 E seat. I actually went to the concessions, commandeered on of those cardboard drink trays, and made a hat out of it. UGA grad engineering at its best
The Citadel and USF September nooners in 2019 were brutal. The upper north was an inferno.

i watched about 10 minutes of it then turned it off. Collins is like a politician listening to whatever is internal polling is saying at the time.

I went, along with 4 other friends. I was actually pleasantly surprised and TBH it was better than the usual spring game format in my opinion and that of my buds who were there as well.

Most people who were looking for a reason to bitch will find a reason to bitch but all of the people around us enjoyed it and I heard a few of the recruits in front us (we sat in CL4 club level seats lower down) who seemed to be impressed as well.

Offense definitely looked more like they had a clue and the defensive secondary was much improved. They were trying to get the kids some reps but not show Clemson and the first teams too much of the offense (per Quinlan's report after the game and I would concur).

I also note that the vast majority of the people bitching weren't there. So.....
So how was the gay frat party?

They all are. You think Jimbo Fisher really believes their number 1 class had to do with the quality of coaching those players see they will be getting playing for the great Jimbo Fisher instead of NIL money?

You can go back to when the earth cooled during the creation of our solar system and not see a number one Texas A&M recruiting class. NIL comes along and all of the sudden Jimbo Fisher is the greatest recruiter in CFB.

Until the east gets shade, it is brutal. Also, letting folks in through the north makes it kind of difficult to fill the east. Add in that there are rails between the chair backs and the rest of the east and not really a good way to get through without climbing over a rail just makes it a hassle
They had the gate to club section open yesterday. We walked straight in through the club lounge and out to our seats.

Yea, but getting there for most fans is inconvenient. I don't know why they installed fixed rails there. I would have put in a locking swing gate at the bottom for events like this so folks could walk across.

The redesign wasn't the best redesign in the world.

As for the HS coach saying we need to put $50 million into BDS, he can öööö off.

I do wish we would get rid of the south end zone seats and put in a tiered chop house style space - and REALLY study what to do. The south end zone seats are useless.

“Hotties” from the gay frat party?
Stingtalk Tailgate has come a long way.

I thought the brightest spots were Gibson on offense and Watson on defense. Sims was not sharp, as Roddy pointed out several times. Certainly did not see enough to argue for Gibson starting, but at the very least he provides good backup potential. I think Harris at TE could be good. Neither line impressed. DB and WR groups had a good night.

Good idea in theory, although I think there were more people on the field and in the north than in the east overall.

But again, if people had been allowed in the west stands, it would have appeared on TV that the only fans there were in the north stands and in the south end zone.

At least one portal to the club section was open for access from the field. It was at the south end of the club section and where everyone around me entered.
