OFFICIAL UCF game week discussion thread

Turnovers killed UCF in their losses last year. Their defense is better than you think it is.

I wonder whereabouts this is. Lower west?

Current weather forecast is overcast and high of 72 for Saturday.

Please let it be so. Preferably no rain, since I wasn’t able to get seats under the lower East overhang where I normally sit.

How will the team handle players out for COVID? Game time announcements?

Can someone get him shirts in the school colors though?

I mean, the man has GT branding everywhere. I don’t mind him wearing a shirt with a clever, oblique tie-in (“Wreck,” GT alum Roman Reigns, sly reference to getting a road win). He was wearing it on that other guy’s show (Pat McAfee?) and they definitely got the reference and commented on it.

I think us running the ball shortens the game and actually gives UCF an advantage (they are not deep). If we throw it like we did last week I feel like we can wear them down and really exploit them on the ground late in the game.

It is a well known fact that UCF players are pussies.

Wut? Running the ball on a thin team kills the DL and LB's

I get what you’re saying but I’m thinking a balanced attack in the first half then a deluge of running the football in the 2nd half would work.

Will be interesting to see what Patenaude’s game plan is. I think it also depends on Mason’s health as well...someone had mentioned he was dinged @ FSU. But Smith and Jamious looked great and we should get our first glimpse of Gibbs.

I think we can control the game running the ball, but it's going to depend on the fronts we see. I expect them to be aggressive stacking the box and trying to create negative plays. We'll likely need Jeff to have some success passing to wear them down. I really want to see Gibbs in this game. He can slip his way out of situations where there isn't running room initially, and that can take some pressure off our play calling. I'm hopeful we are confident in calling some RPOs right out the gate. Jeff identified very quickly when he needed to pull the ball and sling it against FSU. If he can unload the ball quickly with velocity in an RPO, he doesn't give the D time to read his eyes and make a play on the ball. We've got the receivers and tight ends to match up physically and come down with contested catches one on one. That way we don't end up screwing ourselves on a slower developing run play but will be able to run the ball effectively if they give us the right look.
