OFFICIAL UCF game week discussion thread

Only one starter opted out.
Starter from last season? How many could have potentially started? If they opted out before fall practices, you'll never know how many may have been starters this season.

Turnovers killed UCF in their losses last year. Their defense is better than you think it is.

I don't think it is. I have a roommate that graduated from there, so I was semi-forced to watch every game. Their defense was soft and not a whole lot of nuance. Lots of base play it seemed like. They're also out on the field a lot. If we can get a few early stops, it will pay big dividends.

I am married to a UCF grad. We live in central Florida, and have been season ticket holders for years now. This UCF team is allot better than people on this board think it’s is. I will say in their losses on the road last year Gabriel did struggle with turnovers. That cost them the road games last year. If he struggles again Saturday we have a great chance. If he is on they can roll up points in a flash they have weapons all over. Having played last Saturday should also be to our advantage. I guess we will find out if I am right on Saturday.

I agree that they are better than what the board thinks generally. I am just commenting on the defense. It is a typical Randy Shannon defense that we can beat with execution. We have playmakers too. And...they are soft.

As for what you posted:
Their offense has the potential to be good. It is not good yet! We have yet to see them play. Their OL was quite disappointing last year. As a whole, they have a problem with physical, talented defenses both on the perimeter and inside. We have the guys to play zero coverage. My guess is that we will bring some exotic blitz packages.

They averaged 43.4 point per game last year. 5th in the country with a true freshman at qb. Gabriel is really talented, and should be better this year. I do agree the offensive line was probably their biggest disappointment last year. It should have been better. Well we shall see. If your prediction comes true it will be a long weekend for me at home lol.

I have it on good authority that at the QB, RB, and secondary positions their program is A rated, even after the opt out.
Only two starters opted out - corner and defensive tackle; however, they rotate both of these positions so not losing much. Yes - their strengths are QB, RB‘s, receivers, and secondary. Weaknesses are defensive line and linebackers.

So what you’re saying is we should run the ball. A lot.

Both daughters graduated from UCF (grew up GT fans) and saw every game over the last three years. Offense is really good and will score points. Losses last year were from bad decisions by a Freshman QB. He won’t make same mistakes and got better as year went along. They have a new offensive coordinator so that may be in our favor. Their defense is decent but struggles w good running teams. Their goal is to score quickly and often and hope the defense makes a few stops. We can beat them IF they make 2+ mistakes on O and we get ahead and run the ball late.

This may have been covered somewhere already, but will there be beer sold at the game this Saturday?

As much as their board likes to claim AAC > ACC...they averaged those 43.4 ppg against the AAC. Their offense is good, but throwing up their stat lines is dumb. Half their roster would be out after a game against Clemson.

They’re favored for a reason. They’re also undersized af and have little depth. Ground n pound and remind them what big boy football looks like.
