Paul Johnson Estate Sale

I wonder ...

if PJ doesn't secretly have some Sanford Stadium hedge clippings. And those ain't going up for sale.
CPJ was 3-3 against the dwags in Athens. Can't think of anyone with a better win percentage in Athens. Maybe Spurrier.

I always liked Coach Johnson, but this type of stuff is disappointing to me. It makes me question what he really thought about Georgia Tech. I didn't know him personally, so maybe there's a side to the story that I don't know about. But, he was a great coach, and I'll always be grateful for those wins against Georgia, Clemson and FSU, which I will never get tired of watching.
Do you have any idea how much football memorabilia/junk he must have? I'm sure he's keeping plenty.

I did a rough look at Spurrier's record vs. Mutts in Athens (Florida and South Carolina) and he was .... 3-3.
Again, this was a quick look so it may have missed one or two games.

At the end of Bobby Cremins coaching tenure at Tech, he was extremely kind and let one of my sons and me come to see him at his house. There was nobody there but him and his wife, Carolyn. He was so nice. After we talked a while, he took my son and me up into his attic, which was crammed full of all kinds of Tech memorabilia. He let us both pick out something we wanted. I picked one of his neck ties he had worn during a big win against North Carolina. I can't remember what my son picked. It might have been a game ball that Coach Cremins signed for my son. Yes, I think it was. Then, he took us to lunch. We were not close friends. I mean I only got to spend time with him a handful of times. He didn't have to spend ten seconds with us. He had absolutely nothing to gain from doing it. He was just an extremely nice and good man, and he truly loved Georgia Tech. We told a lot of stories. He smiled and laughed a lot. What a great person.
Very Nice Story!

Mark Schlabach (himself a Mutt grad) had a great snippet on espn.com when PJ retired about finding PJ staring up at the ceiling after the 16 win.
They asked him what he was looking at. PJ, replied, "trying to see where it says Paul Johnson Locker Room.
"I own this f-ing place."

He may not have been outspoken in his animosity toward Georgia (tho I think he and Richt got along OK) but there was some COFH about him too when it came to UGa.
I've told this one before — I was standing next to him at some event both he and Richt were at and most of the media in attendance was gathered around CMR. There was nobody around PJ.
"You don't think there's a (bleeping) bias in this state?" he asked me.
"Never said there wasn't," I replied.

Like you I did a quick look at Saban’s record at UGA. He was 2-1 with the one loss when he coached at LSU.

Coach Cremins should play a key role in our next coaching search. He understands Tech and he has tremendous respect within coaching circles.
Could not agree more. Cremins and, to a lesser extent, Danny Hall, are the only guys in power positions who seem to have ever seriously grasped the GT sales pitch.

Cremins was exploding with energy and personality, which I think was his super power.

Don’t know much about Hall, but I suspect Tech is an easier sell for baseball players than to football or basketball guys.

Bobby Cremins was the best. I ran into him a couple of times at the library studying. He stopped by my table which had books all over it, smiled and said “Wow! That’s some serious studying man!” We chatted for a few minutes and he asked me how I was liking Georgia Tech and how things were going. Just a great fellow!

Phil Fulmer was 6-3 over there. The mongrels were so thrilled when the finally beat UT in 2000 that they destroyed their own hedges.

What the rednecks in Athens don't want anyone to know is that they "destroy" the hedges every year after football season. It's called pruning them so that they grow back in an orderly manner by the time of the next football season. Their bitching and moaning about fans of schools who win there "destroying" their sacred (HA) hedges is just BS.

I'm curious what a similar pie chart for CGC would look like

What is this?
"One of a kind!!2009 ACC. Champion Game Call Sheet presented to Coach from Wes Durham GT announcer from the 2009 ACC Championship game. Wes Durham “ the voice of “ who was the Georgia Tech announcer presented his game call sheet to Coach Johnson "

It was sold quickly for $350 this morning. Somebody got a steal, one of the coolest pieces of memorabilia for sale IMO.
