Pitt - 3.5

Collins and Thacker have been game planning against Pitt since the horn sounded last year.

Someone asked how long Pickett has been at Pitt. My answer is that we have six years of game film to study and the head guy studying it was one of the best Defensive Coordinators in the SEC.

I'll say it again. We are going to unleash holy hell on Pitt and their arrogant asshole of a coach who thinks he knows more than anyone else.

Mark it down.
Who is this guy?

I'm getting David Cutcliffe vs. Paul Johnson vibes from this.

I think that's a good thing.

I mean just to bounce off what he said... Geoff Collins was the DC of some pretty solid defenses at FIU, Mississippi State, and Florida respectfully in their conferences in his DC days. I think him and Thacker are starting to get the players at GT and having them grow up to make steps toward that sorta production and fitting with a scheme and gameplay.

Vegas thinks we are a mirage and turnover dependant. Maybe we are. Doesn’t mean we can’t force them again.

I’ll take us and the points at home. Don’t think Pitt beats us by more than 3 if at all.

Pitt is not very good. Every UT fan is PO'd about that loss. Bad execution on offense left the defense in bad spots and led to Pitt scoring drives. That said this is the type of game that Collins loses. Just like last year, feeling good about beating FSU then getting their doors blown off by UCF. I foresee a 42-24 type of win for Pitt and I hope I'm wrong. Sorry but I'm still out on this coach. I grew up in Georgia but I live in Tennessee and married a UT girl so I follow both programs closely. Collins is Butch Jones. Butch could recruit and he had an offensive system that would sometimes have success. But sometimes not. in 2016 Butch beat UF and GA but then that same season lost to bad SCAR and vandy teams to miss out on a 10 win season. Butch had all the coach-speak and just like Colins has the 404 Butch had the Brick-by-Brick. But fact is there were games they would lose that they just shouldn't have lost. And you might say that happens everywhere right? We all remember Saban losing to ULL in his first season at Bama. But that's different. I'm not talking about having a bad game, I'm talking about losing a game where you just look ill-prepared or disinterested. I really hope Collins isn't Butch 2.0 because Tech is in a much worse spot to fix coaching. People laugh at UT for their coaching searches but the fact is there isn't a coach in America that UT cannot afford to pay, their biggest booster owns the Cleveland Browns and sometimes that's a bad thing because the fans expect to hire the big name coach when the up-and-coming assistant may be a better fit. But Tech cannot say the same thing about money so to start over it's just a different spot. Sam Pittman went to Arkansas on a "prove it" contract and made it clear that he wanted to be there. Collins made the same claims about Tech and wanting to be here and to prove himself to everyone, but requiring a 7 year contract says otherwise.
Butch Jones didn't have to turn a triple option program into a winning team first of all. You say Tennessee has all the money in the world and still can't find a coach but people are supposed to be standing in a line to come try and tackle this rebuild.
Rebuild = Time. That's why he got a 7 year deal.

So Vegas had us+13 and the over under at 52 at UNC? Vegas is a mirage.

We won by 23. That’s not “turnover dependent.”

Vegas’ real concern, as is all of ours, is if we see UNC Jeff Sims or NIU Jeff Sims this weekend.

NIU Jeff Sims didn't get to play the second half because of injury. For all anyone around here knows, he lights up NIU in the second half.

Honestly the difference is UT didn’t need the marketing stuff they just needed wins. Tech does need marketing. UT recruits itself and fills its own seats. Tech doesn’t.

We have a dwindling fan base and weren’t even on the radar of any big time recruits pre-2019.

Incoming old geezer downvotes but a lot of people are blind to the reality of what our situation was and still is: old fans are dying off and we have not been attracting new ones.

For all we know we are 4-0 and ranked number 15 if he doesn’t get hurt.
Pretty much. There is no way of telling what adjustments would have been made. Without him being hurt, perhaps our option game picks up.

Always wait and watch the late money (Fri night, Sat morning). That will tell you more than anything.

I hate to bring this up, because we shouldn't have been in that situation, but NIU dropped the 2 point conversion. It clearly hit the ground. We should be 3-1 and possibly ranked right now.
I went back and watched it a few weeks ago. The ball did hit the ground, but it didn't affect the WR's control of the ball. It was unfortunately a catch. Still, even though it goes down as an L, we were the better team. It just came down to a few bad plays, poor adjustments, and bad luck to lose that game.
