Lane Kiffin is going to seem less and less ridiculous a choice in coming years. Not sure he'd want to come here, but it's not like he's simply a horrible coach. Just way too young when he got his chances, and as a result has done a lot of immature things. He was coaching an NFL team at 31. CPJ didn't become a FBS head coach until he was 50.

I don't think Lane Kiffin is a ridiculous choice at all, honestly. He's my favorite active FBS coach, from a personality standpoint, and I think the magic he pulled off at FAU last year shows he clearly has some kind of leadership chops somewhere in there. He's been around the big time programs and if he ever has the inclination to build something like that, I'm sure he probably knows round-about how to do it, and he's clearly the kind of guy who will go the extra mile in recruiting. Nothing wrong with wanting Lane Kiffin to be your head coach.

I just brought him up because I remembered he was RW92's guy last time we had these kinds of "who else" discussions. Or at least I think I remembered that.

Predictably, you remember incorrectly. I consider Lane Kiffin to be a joke of a coach and have never advocated for us to hire him.

I'm not intentionally making anything up, although I'll admit to the snark. I do love me some snark, but don't be so defensive. I just assumed that when you said he'd earned the chance to coach us, by your own criteria, that meant you would want him as the coach. If you didn't want him as the coach, then obviously there would be some criteria of yours he wouldn't have met, and therefor he wouldn't have earned the chance to coach us. So I took "I think CPJ has earned the chance to coach us this year" to directly imply "I want him as our coach." But there must be something I'm missing here.

So, you think he's earned the chance to coach us this year, by your own criteria, but you don't want him to anyways?

You must be an attorney to get the last sentence out of my post.

I've only and ever expressed a desire for CPJ to throw the ball more, recruit better, beat Puke more often, and win a natty.

I realize none of that will occur.

Your reaction to my "Eventually, we will need a new football coach" was amusing. You're gonna have a hard time letting go!

CPJ is 7-3 versus Duke. Can't really beat them much more often.

Would you enjoy a natty if we didn't throw the ball more? Why do you think we need to throw more? We already put up Top 10 offensive numbers just about every year.

And we're 3-7 vs the mutts under CPJ - does that mean we can't get beat much more often than that?

If we win a natty under CPJ, I promise to lead the CPJ Bronze Statue Fundraiser.

The rest has been discussed ad nauseum before.

If you will listen to reason, I will tell you what to think...This is GT... not some factory school and never will be a factory school.

The landscape has changed. Students must pass. The issue is not the offense, but the defense. The question is can CPJ get a good defense. If he does you are going for a wild ride. If he does not, he will retire.

Look at these numbers on common opponents. The O is not the issue. The defense is the issue. You can win 14 to 7! It is possible. Now can CPJ get the train going again facing 4 top 20 teams in 2018?

Why are missed bowl games relevant? If we won a natty one year and missed a bowl game the next would you care?
Watch out Colt. Dis is on a disrespectful roll against PJ. You'll get thrown off the board!

Thanks for putting that in front of some GT posters, Longestdays.

There will be h@ll to pay if GTs "D" gets as good as their "O".

Speaking of reality, no one else wants CPJ and his offensive scheme on their campus ( no one outside lowly Southern and perhaps the service academies).

That's why he didn't "leave for double pay without a doubt."

Can you Rainbow, really speak of reality without your psychologist speaking for you?????????????????

As you probably know, we’ve hashed out the “students must stay eligible” debate many times here. Folks like @RamblinWreck92 refuse to acknowledge this reality. I think we all, RW92 included, realize that if we can develop a strong defense that we could definitely content for a natty.

Where have I not acknowledged that reality?
Fact is, we've managed to get plenty of NFL talent here before CPJ's arrival and not much since he got here, a reality you refuse to acknowledge in your rush (no pun) to make excuses for what can only be described as "mediocre recruiting".

We won't win a natty with this offense. If it were seen as possible, others would be doing it. Football is a game of imitation and the only people imitating us are the service academies. The scheme serves to pile up rushing yards and has been shown to limit our recruiting abilities, which are already hamstrung by our curriculum.

The attitude of IIWII - the lamest, most mediocre mantra in college football - isn't exactly inspiring kids to come here either.

yeah, watch out Colt!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Resorting to personal attacks now, are you? That isn’t my name.

And as to your point of NFL talent before but not after CPJ, well when exactly do you think the current academic requirements came into effect?
