Say it ain't so Calvin :(

Calvin playing for us at least kept UGA from winning a championship, which in its own way was a victory.

Was it Calvin or Bay Bay who said if they had to do it over again they would pick Tech again because ...
"single coverage, baby" or WTTE.

I thought it was Nesbitt dreaming about the idea of single coverage on Calvin, but either way that is a correct answer to the question.

I would ask Calvin "then why did you come to Tech to play with a QB that couldn't pass?"

Its funny. Reggie was asked the same question a couple years back. He also said our offense would have been a tough sell for him because he wanted to sling the ball around coming out of high school, but he then went on to talk about how fun our offense is to watch and how tough it is to stop. Actually, Reggie always talks up Tech even though his career wasnt what he wanted and we fans were tough on him. I'm not mad at Calvin, but its mildly disappointing that our most popular football alum seems so "meh" towards GT. Catches us on tv when he can? Doesnt sound like he is gonna get that degree either. Lol.

Maybe moving back to GA will help, and TStan has talked about getting former players more engaged.

UGA could care less. We have not gotten a player they wanted in years, probably since 2008 with Dwyer, Burnett and Thomas. However, we do have to worry about Duke, Vandy, WF, NC State, etc.
Yeah, this. It's not like we're even on UGA's radar of recruiting competition.

When uga sees us recruting a guy they know to stay away because he'd take 4 to 5 years to develop. It is truly sad how bad we recruit. Its emberassing

His highlight reel wouldn't have been near as spectacular if all the passes had been on target and on time.
Didn't Chan have a couple of qb's lined up to play that were pretty good passers? Then they transferred?

You are exactly right, sir! It appears to me that as soon as we understand Georgia is targeting a recruit we fold our tent and look elsewhere.

If Threet doesn't transfer out to Michigan, which was a HUGE mistake for him, Chan may have been coach for several more years, perhaps successfully. Ryan Mallet transferring from Michigan set off some dominoes. Threet grew up a Michigan fan.

It was perplexing how Chan's staff could recruit every single position decently but QB. He did also under recruit the OL. The staff was fantastic at DL and LB. TE was good. Our RB and FB position were always stout. Landry was one of the best DB's we've put out there.

QBs don't want to get hit that much (though if they're dropping back 35 times they're going to get hit just as much or more)

Seriously? We went whole games last year without hitting the opposing quarterback. Ted Roof though.

Didn't Dwyer, Burnett & Thomas all leave after their Jr. year because of Johnson's offense? They knew the TO would limit them.

Literally Wut? Dwyer and Thomas put up monster numbers in CPJ's offense. Poor Dwyer was "limited" to only 1400 yards and 14 tds his junior year in the TO. Are you attempting some sort of joke with this post?

Don't expose yourself as a dumbass if you're trying to drag someone through the mud.

First, of the three guys you mention, one played defense, so I'm not sure how Johnson's offense forced him to turn pro. Second, the other two guys turned pro because they were set to earn a boatload of money. Thomas did his thing, worked hard, and got drafted in the first round. Dwyer, unfortunately, chose to pop Adderall and eat lard before the Combine and saw his stock drop and got drafted late. That wasn't Paul's fault though.

Seriously - just because we stick our head in the sand about this doesn't mean anyone else does. Teams that lead the nation in rushing typically don't also have receivers that lead the nation in receiving.

Except in 2009 when Thomas was second in the nation for yards per reception. (He was just outside of the top 10 for total yards, #10 was 1191, Thomas had 1157.)

Right now, if UGA is targeting a recruit, we might as well fold out tent unless the recruit has 1600 on his SAT and wants to be a rocket scientist.

I do agree with CPJ that we have to have a system that allows us to succeed with 6’ 2”, 210#, 4.7 guys instead of 6’4”, 240#, 4.5 guys. I like the new defense concept. I just do not think the 3O is what we need on offense. It works OK, but just has too much baggage.

Hill led the country in ypr. Smelter would have had 1000 yards if not for Waller taking some of his catches. Recievers can definitely excel in our offense, but I'm sure other teams have success negatively recruiting against us in this area.

yeah it's no surprise why 5-star WRs aren't lined up to play in the CPJ offense.

What's strange is that 5-star RBs and 4-5-star running QBs aren't either.
Alabama has plenty of 5* WRs lining up to play for them, and they don't get much more action than our WRs do, especially since the catches are spread around so much.

Alabama completed 171 passes in 2017. 1/3 of those went to Calvin Ridley. The rest were evenly spread out amongst about 8 other guys.

Hurts attempted more than 20 passes only 5 times last season. His average completions per game was about 11.

Standout WRs are not really making a great decision by going to Bama.
